We 'the 72 unite', made up of fans from the Football League are angered by, and at a loss to explain, the news yesterday that the proposed legislative changes to the existing academy systems have been voted in favour of. In the current financial climate with the divide between rich and poor widening on a daily basis, Modern Football continues to be an exaggerated version of the overall global picture. THE RICH CONTINUE TO GET RICHER, WHILE THE POOR SUFFER. Lower league football is dying, starved by Premier League greed and excess. Attendances are down, and clubs will soon cease to exist, unable to balance the books to survive let-alone compete with the elite. The lifeblood of Football League clubs are their successful academy systems, some of which have supported and sustained clubs for many years, producing local, homegrown talent representative of the area and fanbase. Today’s ruling cuts this essential lifeblood at the arteries and will signal the death knoll, the final nail in the coffin for the survival of Professional Football outside the Premier League. In response we are calling for action from EVERY FAN at EVERY MATCH on Saturday 29th October 2011 to UNITE, rise-up and fight for the very existence of their clubs. It’s NOW OR NEVER we must let the Premier League and FA know we will not be trampled on. can't get ours out of the pub until 10 minutes in anyway and 2000 seem to be keeping away because of prices. i'm with you mate, really am, but fans getting into their seats 5 minutes late won't exactly do a lot will it?
I think the vast majority of fans are 100% with you but the premier league will continue on their march of greed and selfishness regardless of any protest from outside of its borders. Do you really think the premier league give a flying **** if clubs go to the wall due to their greed? Provided it isn't them they couldn't care less. The most important people in football are the fans yet they are the ones with the least influence. Its all wrong but until those with power wake up and tackle this problem of greed it cant see anything changing.
some of the so called "Elite" would actually welcome some clubs going to the wall think of it, London for example.How many premier AND football league clubs there? Plus a good few non league too. Chelsea,Spurs,Arsenal,QPR,Fulham,WHU ,Crawley,AFC Wimbledon,Aldershot,Barnet to name a few Lotsa fans want the live experience, how long would it be for them to go to another club for that fix. No I honestly think that the premier league clubs would actually relish the monopoly.
As much as I agree with the sentiment I don't think that a five minute boycott will achieve anything at all. The reason for that? A lot of football league chairmen and directors sat in their ivory towers do not care about their supporters. The only thing that we as fans can do is to do our best to destroy the premier league. Stop watching any premier league matches on TV, don't go to the pub to watch the match, don't buy any products that advertised at premier league clubs. It might sound stupid but companies wouldn't want to risk losing so many potential customers and they'd pull out of the premier league pretty sharpish. Lower TV viewers would lower the TV rights value and again the advertising value of the premier league. Within a year or two the premier league would implode. Thats how to tell them we aren't happy, watch the *******s sink.

Agree with the sentiment etc. And the best way to get attention would be for any fan of the 72 clubs who has a Sky sub - cancel it. But they wont, yet theyl b*tch about it on msg boards and the like. AND, we all berate Sky and the Prem, but we would all love to get back up so. . . . . .
Re: A more positive protest that would really make the people in power sit up.... well that's the problem isn't it, sky have got football fans in general over a barrel because although I agree Sky is fundamentally bad for the long term of the game and I also believe that at some point something will go drastically wrong with the premier league we will continue to pay for it because we want to see the best players in the world which compared to other top divisions as a whole the premier league certainly has
