Battling Barnsley?

The only battle today appears to be between Keith Hill and his own mind.
I really have had my faith and patience tested this last 7 days Keithy, and believe me pal, if you lose me - and other fans like me - you are going down that road to nowhere, with your mates Max and Paddy (Paddy and Max!)
    -
"..confidence was already down on last weeks result."
Hang about Keith. You spent all week convincing us that last weekend was a one-off, and to treat that display in isolation.
'No point in dwelling on the past' so it says in the Chronicle. It also quotes you as saying "there has been a great response from the players.. they are hungry to do well in our next two matches.. no fear of playing in front of our supporters."
Yet after todays shambles, you blame last weeks defeat for harming confidence, and said that in the first half "we were slow, apprehensive with the ball.. very nervy, nervy atmosphere"
    Make your mind up.
But as soon as the 'atmosphere' was brought up again I knew where this latest interview was going. Because its becoming repetitive now with Hill.
I havent had chance to read threads thus far so my apologies if Im going over old ground, and for waffling on. But here is what I heard of the Radio interview:
    -
"..we huffed and puffed, but when we got the goal there was enthusiasm from the supporters, and that enthusiasm probably lit the candle I suppose, or the rocket with respect to us not really doing our defensive responsibilities. It left us wide open! But, the players are only human, like myself, and respond to whatever the flavour of the atmosphere is. The atmosphere in the first half today wasnt great. And to get booed off at half-time, was uncalled for in my opinion. And for Jim McNulty, to get booed when he's awarded the man of the match is quite disgraceful!"
Im sure you all know he got the wrong player, but no matter who he named in public, he dropped a clanger. The reaction to the MOTM award is a long-running joke, where they - the sponsor - pick whoever they want a photo with! And so the laughs, moans and the few boos were aimed at the SPONSOR! Not the player ffs! So he's creating an issue (and giving McButterly the idea that we dont like him) that isnt there. Bad move. The "uncalled for" boos were from a tiny tiny minority, after what was an absolute gash first half display. So to just generalise, and say you were booed off by THE fans is a massive **** you to the fans like myself who gave 45 mins of great backing from the Ponty. 'Keith Hills Red n White Army' was fairly non-stop, and we were urging the lads on IMMEDIATELY after the dubious 1st goal.. so to just make out - for your own mind - that the atmosphere was poor is a cop-out, and again, infuriates the MAJORITY. Bad move. And in the 1st bit of that quote, he pretty much blames our defensive frailties in the 2nd half on us again!? We lit the rocket with our enthusiasm! Jesus wept man.
Didnt credit us with Davies' goal though did he? Nor is it our fault if we win!

agreed. managerial skill aside, the man is an egotistical **** spinning his own record again and again. The opposite of the fresh air he thinks he is, more the stale air of every other week's summary

Maybe Keith has a motive and it looks like it's succeeding because we are all sat here talking about his comments rather than the game and the poor performance.

Everytime we play crap at home and loose he seems to adopt the tactic of winding up the fans so much we forget about the performance and focus on him.

On another note that should be the last time butterfield wears the captains arm band! The skippers supposed to lead by example, to never give in, motivate the others, be a leader..... He spent more time strolling round looking disinterested today!

You've got it pretty much spot on Whitey. Like you I have backed and defended Hill and I really like him
but today he has gone too far and blaming us for that first half gash is out of order. Hill and the players were to blame today. Come on Hill stop with this tactic of blaming the fans because it wont work.
