Easy to blame low attendance on the pricing system and I'm sure the Cat 'A' price at £30isn't helping.

But I think the main reason is that a lot of people have worryingly just lost interest in football.

I'm not sure about that, I think its down to people losing or in fear of losing their jobs, being ripped off by energy prices ,cost of living rocketing.....then when they think they might go and see the Reds this week they see £30 a ticket and say 'sod that' and stop looking to go altogether, they then get into other routines on Saturdays and it takes something exceptional to get them back in the ground (cup game against one of the top 4 or a play-off spot)

I'm going to the pictures tonight wtih my missus, Orange Wednesday... about £8 in total. Now I accept that footie is 'live' entertainment but at £60 a pop it isn't competetive with other forms of entertainment.

I'm lucky in that we can get to all the home matches so at about £14 a match per person with a season ticket it is still reasonable.

I'm not picking on Barnsley per se as I think the whole of football is fecked. It's just that there other things that folk can do now that don't cost as much.

Why is it £25, £30... in 1997/98 BFC wages were £2.9m. Last year I understand that they were £8.5m and I believe that they are bugeted to be £6m this year.

Until footballers 'get real' I'm affraid nowt will change and it's a shame.

I saved £60 by boycotting the last two matches. You can by plenty of snap at Tesco with that kind of money.

I would have attended every home game this season but will only get to another 3 whilst I am being asked to pay £30.

Maybe not necessarily football in general but I detect a lack of enthusiasm for Barnsley matches. As the cheaper matches have shown, fans still don't flock. Maybe it's because the club have been relatively stable (or to some, stagnant) for a few years. Since 2006, we haven't been anywhere near the top half come the end of the season. To the die hards, this is an expected and tolerable thing. To the part-timer/casual fans, it's boring.
