Basically, almost the whole of the North is "high" or "very high" so Barnsley is not much different to anywhere else in the region.

More like good effort parents, friends, relatives, the person themselves.

Stop thinking that some outside external organisation is to blame for your own personal problems and get them sorted yourself, then you'll find that that same external organisation is there to help you.

i agree with the parents and person themselves bit

however if by 'external organisation' you mean our beloved council then i must politely say.....what a load of ******. They are far from blameless. We are forced to pay good money to fund that little 'cash cow' and in general it is a sorry waste of OUR FINANCIAL RESOURCES.

and another point coco....my own personal situ is fine..... i was thinking about OUR town in general so please do not tar me with your own attitude of 'I'm alright jack'.

No it doesn't, but it does show that it's not entirely the fault of the council. The article didn't even mention Barnsley

Ahem, 'turdrev' re: "my own personal situ is fine..... i was thinking about OUR town in general so please do not tar me with your own attitude of 'I'm alright jack'. "

You are taking this too personally, I was using 'you' in the third person. I was also thinking about YOUR town too (I no longer live in Barnsley).

I'm not sure where your ideas that "I'm alright jack" are coming from. As far as I'm concerned, this impacts on the country as a whole.

    So what you're saying is

If councillor Houghton wasn't paid a wage and we weren't going to have a museum then all the young people in Barnsley would have a job. Is that about the size of it? Need you go on? No, don't bother.

Yep, that's exactly what he's saying. And it's no surprise that he's saying it, as he's quickly becoming the biggest ever Joseph John Deacon to grace this message board in its chequered history - and Lord above knows there's been a few.

And once again, despite you being shown up before over the museum and the fact it's coming out of lottery funding not council funding, you bring it up again!

Care to expand on the councillors allowances and expenses being "inflated"? Once again you are throwing around, potentially libelous, accusations.

And you don't believe that the chief exec should be paid!

no i believe he should earn it by producing good results....not much to ask is it. Why is it libelous...my OPINION is that they are bunch of wasters. Am i not entitled to my opinion now ?

you would go far on the council...plenty of brown nosers do very well.

You are entitled to an opinion, and I am entitled to disagree with that opinion. However, you did not say that you thought they were a bunch of wasters, you said that they had over-inflated their expenses, that is not an opinion, it is an accusation. You've done this before where you've levelled accusations about councillors.
