But in response to the OP though, I was about to post the same story. Utterly ridiculous decision made by the kings of ridiculous decision making. Tell em to **** off and paint the pitch Red, with a black center circle..

While I think the decision to ban them from wearing it is crazy I also think that the need people have to be SEEN to be doing something is a little bit pathetic. Maybe pathetic is the wrong word but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Why do people always have to make a big scene about how they are doing something to help people? Does john terry wearing a poppy really make a difference? If the allegations against him are true then ironically he is everything that the veterans thought to rid this world of.

It is the same with bucket collections and charity collectors. We all put into these buckets and tins but it isnt necessarily because we WANT to give to these causes, its more that we want to look 'good' in front of other people.

Poppys really irritate me because I feel they have completely lost their significance now due to their other use. Football teams forcing players to wear them, TV networks forcing presenters to wear them and not just to wear them but to wear them for a certain length of time, politicians wearing them for no reason than to keep up appearances. Totally devalued in my opinion.

'its something to do with a war'

If ever there was a statement that proved somebody didn't have a clue what they were talking about then that was it.

It's not the soldiers fault that some may have hijacked the cause. The underlying principle is that we are respecting those who gave up their lives so you have the freedom to do as you please within the boundary of the law.

Phillip? Do you know why I don't talk about nuclear fission on 'ere??

Because I know virtually nothing about the subject. And if I tried to discuss it, by popping in the odd word here and there from wikipedia or whatever, I would look a ****. A bit of a clueless fool trying to appear 'clever'.
There is a bit of advice for you in the above paragraph.
And with regards to you asking what was funny about your first post, well I thought it was pretty self explanatory kiddo. I will leave you with this: Go and read Tyketical's message to you from yesterday. It was fantastical Tyketical advice..

I think some of you youngsters have lost the plot here.

The Poppy is used to collect money for The British Legion so it can carry out its charitable work with ex-service men.

How is it for people who gave their life at War?

The money raised is spent not only on the physically injured military personnel ie Afganistan, Iraq, Falklands ect but also on ex-service men who become drug addicts and alcoholics.

I'm old enough to have worked with many men who were in WWII and they althought that we should stop Rememberence Day and move on.

Wearing a Poppy should be personal act of Rememberence not forced on anyone.

I think FIFA have got it right on this one.

I don't think anyone, footballer or not should be forced to wear the Poppy.

And yes, my personal choice is to wear the Poppy in rememberence of Tom Guest, Irvine Manley, Joseph Manley and William Manley to name just four of my relatives who died serving their Country.
