"Not too down or confused". He does use some bizarre phrasing. Why confused? Sometimes I think he is just grasping for words as filler. Nerves? Maybe not as confident as he makes out? Just a thought.
Using one-word questions makes me think there's something missing in your life, or that you have unfulfilled goals/dreams etc. Also, your name; why the 72 on the end? Is it the year of your birthday? Or maybe; 7 + 2 = 9, 2 less than the 11 members of a football team, which, of course, Barnsley are. Is that it?
I'm still confused as to why we bothered messing the formation up when we needed a simple change in personnel from O'Brien to Done.
me too Or Vas Te I would have been OK with as well - we did look a lot better once we had those two on the flanks instead of Davies and Butterfield/Perkins - not quite sure which was supposed to be where
Which begs teh question why does he keep doing it. Yes we created chances, but we are always likely to concede goals. Is there any grounds to appeal the Drinkwater yellow card, cos HT has posted he will be banned for Donny game, which is bad news IMHO. Hope we don't play Addison and Doyle/Perkins.
We didnt play wide men.......... Or i didn't think we did anyway. It looked like a diamond to me. Addison in front of back 4, Perkins and Drinkwater just in front of him and Butterfield in behind front 2. The problem with that formation is you have no width whats ever and if Gray and Davies isnt a front two that thrive off crosses i dont know what is!!! We definately looked better when we went a conventional 4-4-2. Im sure Hill has his reasons for playing the diamond but i couldnt quite work it out - Especially when Noone was having Wiseman on toast all game. He needed some cover in front of him!! I wonder if the problem (If we can call it that) is Addison and Butterfield. Neither are out and out central midfielders. Addison lacks mobility and simply has no clue when attacking. He can only defend. And likewise Butterfield - He can only attack. He doesn't defend properly in a central midfield of 4. So unless you play Butterfield on the right which i think also limits him as to how he can effect a game - I dont see how we can play them in a conventional 4-4-2. Or maybe im just talking rubbish!! i would much rather have seen Perkins and Drinkwater start in the middle with Butts on right and Done on left. ut hey-oh it wasn't to be and to be fair we werent too bad. Just didn't score - And how many times do we say that!!!
I'm sure KH has his reasons for doing it, and if the match reports are anything to go by we were unlucky not to win - nevermind that we ended up losing. Addison hasn't impressed so far, and I also don't understand why he isn't being played at CB but KH chooses the team to stop the opposition and give us a chance to win the game. If it was as simple as replace one player with another and we'd win then we'd all be working in football management.
Finally someone who saw the same game as me We played with zero width yesterday, for reasons only known to KH, but Perkins was definitely not playing left midfield (his booking came from a challenge on the right hand touch line). Wasn't unhappy with the starting line up as thought Addison had a solid game, and even managed to spread the ball wide a few times to force some constant pressure before going off. My biggest gripe yesterday was taking off Davies, when Gray had made zero impact the whole game.
Were Brighton really excellent? I listened to comentary on dee darr and apart from the opening spell of the game we at least matched them (apart from goals of course) All too often it sounded like when we got into the final 3rd of the pitch play broke down. I know we were unlucky on a couple of occassions and Brighton got lucky on at least one of their goals. Having said that. it probably because they attacked in numbers and had players around ready for that sort of thing (rebounds etc) I just didn't get the impression that Brighton were excellent, they just took their chances.
Re: Finally someone who saw the same game as me Yep have to agree with that mate. We definately didn't play Perkins wide. It was a very narrow midfield in a diamond for me. About Davies - I could only put it down to a fitness issue and that was the reason he came off. He was certainly looking more lively than Gray though yesterday. Unless Hill just thinks Davies and Vaz Te can't work together. I couldn't see why not though!! Also agree about Addison - He didn't have a bad game by any means. He made a few good tackles and like you say his distribution was ok yesterday. He just doesn't attack. Hes not got it in his locker!! Makes him a scapeboat then i think when we struggle to create much or the team loses......
