Never seen a five million pound player. But it would be nice if someone did pay that.

I agree Nudge and premier league clubs have paid a lot more for potential to other club.

Yeah but the blunts usually sell players that they have on a 3 or 4 year countract, Butterfield has 6 months left. I reckon we'll be lucky to get 500k for him.

if £5 mill was offered I would not snap their hand off...I would take the whole arm

I know Jacob is arguably our best just now, but £5 million (if its true) just cannot be missed. Its that simple IMHO

Completely agree and I think if we were offered £5 million the Don would drive him to the club personally.

    £5 million...............

I can't believe people are taking this seriously!! Be the maddest transfer in footballing history if we got £5 million for Butts!! Especially with 5 months left on his contract!! If he had a 5 year contract i still wouldn't expect us to get even half that amount!!

    Just my opinion like......

If this club thought they could half that....id guess Butts would have been retired...wrapped in cotton wool..and The Don would willingly give him a piggyback to any club in western Europe...
    Remember Brian Howard 10 mil..to 500k..

We will get nowhere near that, not with only 5 months left on his contract.

I think we will be getting something though as I definately think he will leave, from the comments attributed to him I have a feeling him and his agent are the type to move on to 'bigger and better things'.

In my opinion it should be the case that the contract of anyone who is a first team player should be sorted out in the season prior to it running out, leaving it to the same season for me is asking for trouble - but I think in this instance we have been caught out perhaps due to Mark Robins, as he didnt seem to like Jacob and so didnt play him last year when I think he should have been a more regular performer - perhaps then he could and would have been tied down last season and we wouldn't have to be resigned to losing him.

I don't think losing Butterfield can be laid at the door of Don or the club.

    If he leaves in January..

It will be undisclosed.. so no matter how much, or how little we get, it means zero to us because they wont tell us.
They may get 50 million for him, but by not disclosing it, they will carry on as though they got ten bob. As if theyll tell us...
But honestly, if they got anywhere near 2 mill for him Id take that as a very good deal..

They shouldn't let anyone because when we go to replace him unless it's off manu/chelsea/arsenal ect the fee would go up.
