Yes, apart from one dip**** in the office who was on the phone and continued to talk throughout. Gave him a right gob full afterwards. Said it was our fault for not telling him. FFS - It was announced at 10:30 over tannoy and again just before it was to begin. You shouldn't have to be told, you should know what day and what time it is.
Yes. About 100 people outside our work, rocket fired at start, maroon to end. Union Jack in place on the flag pole all day and until Monday.
There was a half-hearted attempt to observe the silence but so many people forgot or couldn't be arsed it really ruined the whole thing. It was pretty shameful really.
Yes Complete with ceremony, wreath laying and trumpet (or whatever it is they blow - bugle?). They do a good job. In my last job there were jackasses in the office who carried on talking through the whole thing. Didn't help that all the clocks were set to different times though.
Re: Yes When i first started there was just a few of us who observed it we made a point of stopping our machines to take part. Now its company policy but only since the 2nd gulf war, we were observing it before that, which without a union and loads of little hittlers in the office was a brave act.
I was in a business conference in Munich and the Brits amongst us had one... To quote a certain home guard corporal, "they didn't like it up em"
