Mr DR's said 55% of the clubs money is from the football league. I'm surprised at that, i thought it would be more 31% from ticket's.
And it will be reduced next season too. Did he say where the rest came from besides the obvious bank of Cryne?
It can't come from Cryne as Rowing has already stated that we would have passed the proposed rule change (ie no cash injection from a benefactor) LAST season and that we are spending even less this season. That's at least the last two seasons without any money from the bank of Cryne.
He said Barnsley are financial ok. I've got a feeling that barnsley will break even this season. It goes down Mario by 100,000's(800,000 i think) and not 1,000,000's and barnsley get EPPP (think thats the right amount of p's). Also am i right to think that's the highlights money? If so, a broadcaster will buy them, surely. Could SKY buy exclusive rights? or does that breach some sort of monopoly ruling? Would be a big scoop for ESPN too.
St a question for you Also am i right to think that's the highlights money? If so, a broadcaster will buy them, surely. Could SKY buy exclusive rights? or does that breach some sort of monopoly ruling?
I remember him saying that also, yet people keep going on with the myth that we are only surviving because of Patrick Cryne. That was the case for a while but not for last season and probably not for this latest financial year.
Why wouldn't they? Don't barnsley and say Barnet get the same? Lower league chairman (mainly league 2) said they couldn't afford to run a youth system if it wasn't for the EPPP. There were 46 votes in favour, 22 against, three no-shows and one abstention. I'm told it was a reluctant "yes" from many of the clubs, who felt they had no choice. If they voted "no", the Premier League threatened to withdraw over £5m of funding that they give to lower league clubs each year for youth development. It is all tied in with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), which will radically modernise youth development in England, introducing a four-tier academy system. The new deal will see every club receive an increase in their funding for a guaranteed four-year period, with the amount determined by their academy status. Do COE and academy's get different? why shouldn't barnsley get 1/72 of 5 million?
You do realise that 1/72 of £5,000,000 is less than £70,000 don't you Hemsy? That's not a lot of brass for a second tier football club
70,000 I do. In the world of sports how can 70k make a difference between having one and not having one? If palace academy costs 1 million pound to run. That means the money will cover 7%. HMMMMMMM interesting.
The premier league give five million a year to the football league for youth development. They threatened to pull the funding if the football league didn't accept the new eppp rules. A lot of clubs reluctantly agreed to accept the new format as they couldn't afford to lose that bit of extra funding. Essentially they have been blackmailed. For ninety percent of clubs in England there is nothing good to come from the new set up.
What do you think barnsley should have done thought D/T Said no, and it affect league 2 clubs massively or thought of all league clubs and said yes.
In what way will the EPPP radically modernise youth development in this country unless of course radical modernisation means the big boys get to cherry pick all the talent from the little clubs for peanuts. What incentive is there to scout, nurture and develop young local talent when you're going to lose the best players for next to nothing anyway.
Told the premier league to **** off. If money wasn't that tight then I suspect a number of clubs would have said the same. Seventy grand would be to some clubs a hell of a lot of money towards their youth development. The eppp is going to force a lot of clubs to give up on youth football completly under the age of sixteen and pick up cast offs from the big table. The premier league and its greed will destroy the English game.
Ok then Do you think that what happens in Spain is good or bad? Because you could say they do that. I once looked on to real Madrid site and found out that they have 2/3 teams at each youth level.
Spains league set up is entirely different to England and has no real bearing on the topic of discussion.
But it does for me anyway because it is seems to be a youth set up that people think works. It all goes down to 2 things for me anyway, if you want a club first set up or a national first set up. Should the Fa think about second/ u23 clubs (i think thats what they have in Germany)?
The EPPP could work for a small minority of clubs, but for most it will be a step backwards and ruin a major source of their income e.g. Crewe Alexandra. If we accept that we are a club that is going to invest money into our academy (at the expense of transfer fees) then we could get grade 1 status and attract the best young players, but we won't be able to sign seasoned pro's. We may be able to sell these young stars on at a later date, but to do that we'll need to actually blood these youngsters into the first XI early (in the same way Brazilian clubs do) in the hope that we can make some quick money on those that make the grade. It could make us some money in the long run, but it could also effect the consistency of our first XI and lead to us dropping down a division every now and again. As fans we'd need our clubs decision (whatever it is) explaining to us so that we can at least know what to expect. I'd be happy to accept the above, but I imagine not everyone would be.
