Re: BlondIe & transvision. Vamp Loved Transvision Vamp! Still got all their records on seven inch singles
Re: BlondIe & transvision. Vamp At the time it was all a bit lost on me. They'd only had the one big hit. Place was packed, it went mad for that one song, and then folks drifted off.
Focus, Sheffield City Hall 1972 Absolutely brilliant, they played for so long that the management turned the power off on the stage, but the keyboard player (Thijs van Leer) swapped to grand piano and guitartist (Jan Akkerman) played acoustic. Truly great musicians.
Saw Be Bop at the Dearne Hotel Bolton on Dearne. 1976 It was normally 10p for bands there, but on that night it was 15p, me and my mate couldn't decide if it was going to be worth it - we had heard of Be Bop so we took a punt, they were fantastic. I saw them again in 1977 at Hammersmith Odeon, not quite the same intimate atmosphere but still good. They were supported by a band called Burlesque who I saw on several occasions at the Halfway Hotel, Goldthorpe (now demolished) they were a Roxy Music clone but with quite a humourous slant and a fantastic quitarist. Anybody remember them?
Nazerath Sheff City Hall, circa 79/80, Saxon were support band Didn't watch Saxon, but Nazerath were great.
Stiff Little Fingers '77ish Was on holidays with the parents at Minehead Butlins and headlining their "entertainment" for the evening was The Tom Robinson Band. Altogether now - 2, 4, 6, 8... Maybe not  Anyway, SLF were on before them & brought the house down. Absolutely brilliant. Tom Robinson was garbage btw and most wanted SLF back on - well the ones under 60 lol. Seen Fingers maybe 20 times since, including a couple of months ago.
Re: BlondIe & transvision. Vamp I was a big fan too. However, don't ever be tempted to go looking for pictures of Wendy James as she is today, unless you want to be hugely disappointed.
Is that where u got your username from mate? ;-) To add my two penneth, it was Terrorvision at Octagon (1995ish I think).
Hated him ever since that concert. Was in Leeds to see One the Juggler on the same night - headed off to the Station to catch the last train back to Wakey, only to be faced with a queue of bandana wearing Springsteen fans. Couldn't afford a taxi and had to walk the 10 miles home! First concert for me was U2 at Sheffield City Hall - St Patricks day in 1983! Brilliant concert & could never imagine they would still be around nearly 30 years later!!!
Re: Nazerath Sheff City Hall, circa 79/80, Saxon were support band Public Enemy, Rock City ~1988, at least that's the first one I remember.
Re: BlondIe & transvision. Vamp LOL! Won't bother me what she looks like today as i'm female and not a lesbian!!
Rampant at the Komplex, Kirk balk School, Hoyland. 1980 ish or might have been the old pub by Hoyland Market that burnt down. Can't quite remember. First big band concert was Whitesnake - Ready and Willing Tour. 1981?
Suzi Quatro, Barnsley Civic 19XX can't remember exactly but a long long long long long long time ago. Best was Status Quo, Queen, Big Country at Knebworth in the 80's. Awesome. Most recent was the Glavins at Dodworth Miners Welfare, and Touch & Go at the Bluebell!
