If we hadn't sold any players what would be our best 11 at the moment?

And how successful would we be with that side?

What I mean is that if we hadn't sold any of our players over the last 10 years or so (maybe longer?) and they were all still at Barnsley now who would our best 11 be? Remember that a player who was 27 when he left Barnsley 10 years ago would be passed his best now at 37.

How much longer? The rules need to be more clearly defined.

Well there is no set time length. What I'm saying is that if we hadn't sold them and they continued to be a Barnsley player for the rest of their career then what would our best 11 be.

A few examples of what I mean. Neil Shipperly can't be included because even if we had never sold him he would still have retired while Jon Parkin who was sold in the same season can be included because he would have still been in our squad now if he'd never been sold. McPhail can be included because he is still playing now but you have to remember that he is 31 now so is he still the player he was then?

Find places for Boggy, Shackell and Hammill in the current first eleven. End of discussion.

We would do well to get Blanchflower and Taylor on the pitch now.

.They would still be better than some of the dross we have had in the last 10 years though! I would take a dead Taylor over a live Sheron, Burton any day!!!*
