Hi all, im a doncaster supporter just looking for a bit of help. My grandad is a barnsley fan and has been all his life, he was born in darfield and lived there until he started in the navy, hes now living in doncaster and is quite frankly on his last legs. He was given 3-6 months and that was 4 months ago! A while back he gave me a toby tyke key ring and although im a rovers fan it meant the world to me, and i want to give him something back, just a little keep sake. I was thinking if i could just get a programme signed this saturday or something that would do, does anyone know how i can go about getting this done? as im in the away end thought it might be a bit harder! any help greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot for any help!
Dear Mr Bailey. My advice would be to try and get to the ground early (say 1pm/1.30pm) and make your way to the North stand (away end) in that vicinity is the players match day entrance and if i was you i would locate yourself in that area once you have purchased your match day programme and you should be in luck (if you explain your situation i am sure both sets of players will oblige) and would also take you camera as well.Hope you enjoy your game and your grandad enjoys his momento from you.
So you suggest something to someone that you have never done yourself? For the record i have e-mailed the club twice and guess what? No reply.
Thankyou, ill be in Barnsley early as im playing in the supporters game in the morning! thanks a lot to everyone, ill try the email too!
Try contacting: Rachel Hearne Commercial Manager Barnsley Football Club Tel: 01226 211182 Fax: 01226 211444 Email: marketing@barnsleyfc.co.uk I'm sure they'll be able to arrange something to help you out, rather than just turning up on the off chance.
When the inevitable happens, buy him a brick on the back of the Ponty End I got one for my dad when he passed away in 2004. The cost was £25 and you can have your own personal message engraved on it. They also allowed his ashes to be spread on the grass behind the goal at the Ponty end.
I spoke to Rachel, very lovely lady! I have been told what to do and when, and if that fails she is going to sort it out for me! Credit where its due, youve all been a help!
