I was not over the moon to say the least, when you were appointed, I did not like your big man swagger and bravado, I did not like the way you blame the fans every time we lose, I did not like your comments about being fed up of hearing about 1997, I was pissed off when you decided to rant at the fans again after the MOM was announced and was booed and YOU gave it to the wrong player. I enjoy the wins and the way we are playing(mostly) I thank you for that and think you are doing a good job with the squad, but I still think you were wrong attacking the fans, you were wrong to pick the bloody music before the match, also i still cannot take to your voice, it irritates the **** out of me(not just your accent, every person from your region annoys me). Keep up the good work and leave the fans alone, you will find out they are a great bunch.
Whilst I agree with quite a lot of that, I am willing to be a bit more liberal with the praise. I'm looking forward to going to matches again. That is something I have to thank them for.
Your warming to them at last I personally enjoy his honesty although I dont agree with everything but that creates debate.
'Kin 'ell. Fair enough, some fowk dunt like him but to start moaning about his accent? Like a young Hemsworth Tyke post that.
NOWT LIKE HEMMSY. If you read it I state that I dont like anyones accent from that area, never have and never will. I have said it plenty of times before too. But if all that can be found wrong about my post is that then I have done something wrong, lol.
I like the football, but I can`t take to him, really can`t. I turn radio over when he starts to speak, then come on here to find out what he said now. As for his honesty, I don`t think he is, just he believes he is right and no-one else can be. Now I like Flicker, maybe that is because I have never heard him speak, lol.
To my ears, the manager's post match comments might be addressed towards supporters, but they are intended for the players, who he kows will be listening and taking notice. When the supporters boo, he does not want the players to lose confidence, so he tells supporters that they were wrong to boo. Yesterday, when supporters were gushing in their praise, the manager brings the players down to earth by critisising them for not defending properly. If you want to remain unmoved by his statements, do what I do. Think about why he may have said what he said. Perhaps he did not intend to insult you personally. Perhaps he has other motives.
Good point. I havent heard Flicker speak once. Maybe he's camera shy? But most managers send the number 2 out after a defeat, to face the press.
Faint praise indeed. You really do take the biscuit. Substitute "swagger and bravado" for confidence and faith. Also please note that he doesn't blame the fans every time we lose. Also please note that he does and has praised the fans when we win. He has made the mistake of not tapping into the dream - but he would argue that he needs to lower aspirations. Point is he makes us all think. He's direct and he's blunt and, as Yorkshiremen, indeed, South Yorkshiremen, if we can't stand a dose of him "telling it how it is", then we should hand in our passports. Ranting at the fans for booing - didn't Mick McCarthy do that a few weeks ago at Wolves? Mebbe you don't like him for being direct? mebbe even you don't like him cos he's from Worsboro and you don't like people from the region of Worsboro......or the way that they talk, their accent and the sound of their voice? Personally, I like that KH makes us all think about what we are as a club. I like the way he talks about his principles and the DNA of the club. I like the way he sticks up for what he believes in> I like his direct style. I think he's funny and i like the way he is willing to argue the toss. I like the way he defends his "lower league ****e" and I like the way he's not afraid to change things. Strong leaders are the catalysts of change. Hillcroft are just what we need at our club. My worry is, and always has been, that he'll get so F***** off with the fans here, it might prompt him to leave. Oh and that DNA thing - all the moaners and boo-boys should check to see whether their DNA matches ours - cos if it don't, I'd prefer it if they p***** off to Meadow Hell on Saturday afternoons.... cos I don't like their voice, or their accent. Mark my words madmark62, this management team will be Premiership one day - mebbe even with us. x In Hillcroft I trust....nd trust is key. Rant over
He was rightly putting some fans back in their box and drawing a line under the Premiership. It was crude in its method, but effective.
In summary: You don't like the stuff that counts for nothing, but you're happy as larry with the stuff that does. Cheer up mucka!
I know for certain that the players all know what he says post match. In fact, I was with Bobby Hassell after one home match when we were both on WAB Radio. Half way through the show a text came through on his phone from his wife, saying that Keith had said something or other on Radio Sheff and Bobby was cringing! Quite funny
Hill and Flicker if you do read this be assured that the vast majority of fans are 100% behind you and believe that we are going to achieve something under you. There is a proper buzz about the football club again and that is down to you.
spot on, let's everybody get behind em, if we can avoid what has become the traditional post christmas downturn in form we could be on for a top half finish this year. UP THE REDS
Im loving all this and i hope he acheives what he,s set his stallout to do. But i hope nobody pinches him before he,s completed the job. He is the breath of fresh air that we needed. I have agreed with most of the managerial changes that we have made in recent years apart from getting shut of (Ritchie),But I realy think the managment team we have now is the real deal and long may it last.
This Is Why I'm glad Keith Hill doesn't bother with Internet forums. In fact I think he hates them. He'd much rather have football banter/arguments with someone face to face. He's very much like a Lancashire Mick McCarthy, which begs the question, would people complain about Mick as much as they do Hill? Cos you'd still have the same kind of blunt, honest, down to earth manager. No wonder he doesn't wanna manage us! It's not cos he's scared to fail it's cos the fans are a million times more sensitive now than in the '70s!
Re: This Is Why without been too disrespectful, we are 13th, with a game in hand, a win tomorrow will take us up to 8th place in the championship, where we were favorites (undeservedly) to finish 24th. criticism to Keith when its due, but its not, his tactics/team selection/recruitment etc. is fantastic. At the moment we're performing brilliantly, no real need to criticize him over anything at the moment.
