I always remember the Mackems fetching a sh*t-load the year they clinched the title - I think.
It was the year before The Ashley Ward Stand went up. They were amazing that night. Didnt stop singing. Not even for a second. Sure they got wet thru n all.

They were probably the best I've heard down at Oakwell.

You can't beat 7000 Leeds fans go suddenly silent lets hope for the same New Years Eve.

Got to agree with above (even though they raided the food bars), United in the league cup, non-stop for 90 mins. Sunderland a few years back when they got promoted under Keane were pretty impressive too.

Before I opened this thread, having read the title, the first team I thought about were Sunderland. They always brought a great following, even when they were rubbish, whereas the pundits would have you believe that it was Newcastle that retained their large away following when they were in the doldrums. That's not the way I remember it in the late 80's/early 90's. Sunderland were always much better.

I was going to say the Sunderland fans when they won the league under Peter Reid - we gave them the kop and the whole West Stand and there were more away fans at the game than BFC fans.

But for entirely different reasons it has to be the Bradford fans in 1997 - the only time I've ever felt the need to write to another club and congratulate their support (and I got a reply from Geoffrey Richmond!).

West Brom a couple of times. Particularly remember in the promotion season and we played them on Good Friday in an evening game on Sky. They didn't stop singing and even joined in on "The reds are going up", mainly because it meant their rivals Wolves wouldn't! I remember them singing that and doing a conga around the away end as we were 2 up.

Man City in the promotion season.

They were singing "Rather be in Barnsley than Barbados" which was where Chairman Franny Lee was at the time.

I seem to remember a few season back when the baggies came, boy did they make a noise with "boing boing" i remember i young lad in ponty going "boing boing bag of sh!te" all on his own all way through the game until the very last min when the whole Ponty end joined him.

Easily the loudest set of fans that have been to Oakwell in my memory, from minute 1 to 90, not seen a contingent get anywhere near them in the last 20 years.
