The games are there to benefit the whole nation said Seb Coe.A respected national newspaper carried a story a few weeks ago ,having asked the question. about contracts awarded for the infrastructure projects and supply contracts etc.The percentage of the total contract value spent in the North is 1.70%.
The money has all been spent Everything has been built. And all that money was spent long before the global economic crisis. It's this year we start getting some of that money back when people come from all over the world to spend their dosh in London. Be a bit daft to spend all that money on the stadia and then not recoup it by actually holding the event.
Re: The money has all been spent Not quite, don't forget the extra £40 million they've just found from nowhere to supplement the previous £40million allocated for the opening and closing ceremonies..... Whilst the grass roots sports in this county is on it's arse. Yes the economy will have a boost when the olympics come 'round, and the nation will proudly be waving flags for our medal winners, for without a doubt there will be some. I really hope the powers that be use some of the money to reinvest in sport at the levels that are needed, because in ten years time the whole thing will have gone belly up.
I think there should also be a Paro-Olympics where atheletes get totally rat-ar5ed then try and take part in their resective events. Imagine drunken hammer thrower.
that £40million won't just have come from nowhere, someone somewhere will be suffering and it won't be any millionaires thats for sure
Unfortunately.......... The games will now be boycotted by Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, etc...................... Ne'er mind!
dont want to alarm you but the olympic games are a worldwide event and you might just bump into some coverage somewhere....
Re: Unfortunately.......... Mixed blessings, your Grace! Winners at Southwell and Chelters today, but one or two more horses who hadn't read the form book! Mosseley and Overturn should go well tomorrow, methinks! Have reserved my opinions on here of late because I've come to realise that notwithstanding the concessions on matchday prices, my arthrhitis has improved no end since I stopped sitting immobile at Oakwell in the cold for two hours! Hope you are well, my Lord!
Re: Unfortunately.......... I asked for Bri, Bri the Biscuit Tin wot u playin at. I would reply tomorrow to make it seem realistic.
Would suggest the Three Choirs Festival - to be held in Hereford in 2012 - although it has been brought forward to 21-28 July to avoid a clash with Jeux Sans Frontiers!
