    I wasn't totally surprised by his reaction. He's fractured his tibia, which will have been painful initially but not so bad after the initial shock. If he'd have broken his tibia it would be a different matter though.

    I've fractured my elbow before and it was agony for a minute, but then only painful if any pressure or movement was directed towards it. It hurt a lot more in the weeks after doing it than it did at the first few hours (minus the initial agony!)
