Didn't it come out in the papers some weeks ago that Suarez had called him a "negrito" ?. They must have some good evidence to ban him for 8 games, JT needs to get at least the same punishment IMO

Racially abuse someone whilst sat in row A and its a three year ban. Racially abuse someone whilst stood a few yards further forward on the pitch and its a one month ban.

How exactly is that right?

 

No HT there is something called evidence and a jury that decided the outcome. In the case of Suarez it seems like he has been found guilty without evidence.

I was going to say exactly the same..... Referee dealt with the confrontation between Suarez & Evra during the game so therefore it cannot be reviewed under the rules the FA say we are governed by!!! Unless we suggest name calling is worse than ABH!

Couldn't care what Suarez said in the heat of the moment, sticks & stones and all.... Doesn't make him racist its just a visual comment! FFS there are rapper songs in the charts with far more aggressive racial flavour and films on every night of the week with reference to "white snowflake" or "white chocolate" .... Isn't that racist! Oh, no it can't be, it's only a white comment!

One thing that i'm a little bit confused by is the defence. Liverpool and Suarez seem to be arguing two totally different defences.

The first being that negro doesnt mean the same thing in Uruguay which is a fair enough defence if true and the second is that the conversation never took place and he never said it.

If the second is true then why the hell did the original defence centre around the meaning of the word negro? The negro meaning defence makes no sense if no conversation took place.

In my opinion anyway.
