    I thought there were 2 since many offices / schools etc were working as normal last week so most people working in and around town would be knocking off early today.

    This Mad Friday wasn't always on a Friday.

    In the Days when we worked right up to normal finishing time on Christmas Eve, most of local industry would give you part of, not all of the afternoon off to have a drink. At Tracky we got two and a half hours off. We would go to the Pig in Mt Vernon Road and the Tracky Club which was in Wesley Street. Other factory lads and lasses would drink in't pubs in't tarn.

    It could be on any Day of the week except when Christmas Eve fell on a Sat or Sun when it was on what is now called "Mad Friday".

    We didn't even get New Years Day off, not that I ever worked it.

    Town was packed last night for mad Friday part 2. A bouncer was knocked out cold in Retro by a single punch. I quickly got him into the recovery position and made sure he was ok untill the Police arrived........horrendous scenario and the bouncer had a deep cut to the side of his nose.

    ....it sure was..............it were foooking brilliant !!!

    But the Mad Fridays this year cant compare to what they used to be 10 or 15 years ago
