I have ceased being critical of Hill, because I think he's doing a good job in the circumstances.

But having not renewed this season due to the poor level of entertainment over the last 3-4 years, the price hikes this season have caused me to seriously question the desirability of attending even on a casual basis (recent 'concessions' notwithstanding).

Counting caretakers, we've had 14 managers in 13 years since Danny left. We're also on our second (or third?) change of owner. There is little Barnsley-born representation in the team, and not many who've been with us for more than about 3 years. There is an imminent threat of sale of what promising players we have (Butts, Steele, Davies?). Its also rumoured that PC would accept a realistic offer for the club itself, and we know he has his own difficulties.

All in all, I feel less connection with the club than I've done for a long time. No doubt the usual suspects will cry "sod off!", "not a true fan!" and all the usual BS. But the club is building up problems if it allows folks to lose interest. I'm not sure what can be done, mind!

You've allowed yourself to lose interest.

This is the MOST interesting time at the club for years !!!.........we now have HOPE

...........does it matter that we lost against Blackpool..........it was disappointing, but does it really matter?
I would say no. Why? because Blackpool are much further down the road to success than what Barnsley are and it showed in the second half. But move the clock further forward to a year from now and it will be a much much closer game.
Because the club now has got HOPE...........hope for a much brighter future.
Why?................because we have Keef and Flicker at the club.

If Barnsley could retain the services of Butterfield and build a team around him then that would be great.
Unfortunatly we haven't got an owner with enough money for that to happen.
All what is lacking at the club at the moment is an owner with enough money to prime the pump.

lets get one thing straight.....it's not my town, my team whatsoever.

the town is my home town and i love it but lets face it....for whatever reason...it's now a shlthole. As for the team....i support the team....it's not my team or any other of the regular fans' team. As far as i know the club/team belongs to PC and the council (whoever owns that shambles is another story).

They depend on us to turn up and fund the club.........they owt to show a little more gratitude in my opinion. Instead it appears to be run very badly and they don't give a flying fook about the fans. However they are not daft and know that that there is a hardcore of x amount of fans that will continue to give their hard earned or otherwise earned money to the club no matter what happens or how badly they are treated, as they have little else going on in their lives.

    hope this helps

"it's not my team or any other of the regular fans' team." - What a load of ******.

If you don't believe that the team does not belong to the fans, then I suggest you find some other sport to watch.

The fans are and always will be, the lifeblood of football. We are the only constant that will prevail no matter who is the owner, manager, or who plays for the club. We come back season after season because it is our team whether we are playing Champions League or Sunday League. Why did Wimbledon fans cause such an uproar when the club became MK Franchise? Why is MK Franchise one of the most disliked teams in the country? Because the owners didn't understand what a club means to the fans.

    THIS IS OUR CLUB!

If you don't believe that then go and find a sport where the fans don't matter.

I never said he wasn't. He can support Man Utd or take up Morris Dancing for me. All I'm saying is that he is responsible for his own level of interest or enthusiasm.

    Doubt this helps.

Couldnt agree more. I think the club is losing its family friendly image for one thing. And i think its just too darned expensive, including the food and drink. 4.50 for a little pie and a stingy cuppa is ridiculous. And more often than not its a dead atmosphere now for some weird reason. And also watching the highlights on a saturday night isnt the same. Used to get up early sunday and watch goals on sunday and then the championship. The FL Show is just another dire, patronising, brain melting program by the BBC to be honest.. Anyway thats my rant over!

you have made the point for him, butterfield is the only player on that list good enough (for now) to get a game.

For the benefit of us EITS, how many first team starts have these players on your list made this season?

What does it matter though? If memory serves only David Watson was born in Barnsley from
the promotion squad. Dint seem to bother people too much.

but have other players let club down? no from what i can tell.
digby played dm at a high flying derby and from what hill and the players said you couldnt tell it was is first game.
rose/ rnl/ taylor have had injurys which have stopped them playing.
Haynes or Rose 15 yards out, who do you want? rose every day of week.

I think the point is that you need some form of connection?

Granted about the promotion squad, but Redders had been with us so long he was 'one of ours'. It's difficult to get that same sort of connection with an ever-changing cast of players, the best of which will soon be through the door?
