Re: Just look at what you've started!! Well Kev, I come from a time when bananas were thrown on the pitch and monkey chants were the order of the day... and I'm only talking about 1990 when Agana scored at the Ponte End in an FA cup replay. I was ashamed that evening.
Re: I'm not going to start sticking up for paedophiles You've missed my point entirely. Paedophilia and everything that goes with it is horrible and completely wrong. I just don't think that hate comes into it at all (well it will in some cases but that was why I mentioned rape). Some crimes are deplorable but they aren't necessarily hate crimes or racially motivated.
If she was a male Tory politician I'm sure this thread would have been a whole lot different. How long til white people are banned from the UK? You bring too much shame and division to the country, you should **** off back to where you came from.
Re: You're getting mixed up That's ironic given the original post was about what Diane Abbott said and you've gone off on a tangent about "Asian paedophiles"!
Re: You're getting mixed up The reason why the perception is that "racism only works one way" is precisely what was said in the article posted up by Dyson (not sure how many people read it), but basically it's down to control. Blacks have a history of being subjugated, a history of enslavement, it is this abuse of power from ruling classes that led to racism. That is why it generally works "one way" and why blacks are generally not racist towards whites, prejudiced - yes, but it's not racism. As for the term "Political Correctness", it's a term I hate because 99% of the time it's nothing to do with being political and purely to do with what is correct.
Re: You're getting mixed up Disagree with all of this. Racism is not based on subjugation or enslavement - it's based purely and simply on good old fashioned prejudice. Black people are no longer "controlled" in this country and in the traditional sense have not been for over 200 years. So just because someone's ancestors may have been slaves does not mean they are any less rascist today. The likelihood is that most of our ancestors would have been peasants so in a sense they were slaves - where's the cut off point? Prejudice towards someone because of the colour of their skin is racist regardless of whether it's white towards black or vice versa.
