    I assume you're being ironic

if so then I laugh with you.

If not then I feel sorry for you.

By the way, he was fantastic yesterday.

Actually this season it's better than that, his record is 1 in 2.17 games.

I still don't rate him though.

    That, my friend, I am.

Always rated him and think he's had a bit of a rough ride from majority of our fans who ignore the good stuff he does.

I was going to ask this earlier. I was just wondering what his record was like compared to our other strikers. I still rate him, he works hard and does a lot of stuff that doesn't get much praise.

He's scored 19 in 81. Without a calculator I make that slightly worse than 1 in 4. He's better than Special Kay but not a patch on someone like Bruce Dyer.

Gray's a bit like Martin Devaney. He'll have nine poor games then one great performance and people see that as being the true reflection of him.

As for work rate, anyone who saw his performance at the Den this season will know he put in so little effort he managed to be worse than Iain Hume when he came on against Forest a couple of years back.

1 in 4 for a striker playing up top, on his own, in usually **** teams with no attacking threat (until this season) isn't bad in my eyes.

He played the majority of last season with Goran Lovre as his strike partner. Messi wouldn't score 1 in 4 in that system.

    Agreed.

DISCLAIMER - I thought Tommy Wright would boss Championship defenders that year we came up.

This season we've gained more points with Davies upfront than with Gray, from starts. That was up to the Leicester game. I think we still statistically gain more points with Davies, but obviously the gaps narrowed. I think Gray's great btw, best hold-up striker we've had for a decade and I think his reputation has been set by previous Davey-ball tactics, now we're playing the ball into him from 10-15 yards he's come into his own. Some people won't see that though, most possibly because they know nowt about football :)

Not good enough for some people though

He hardly ever plays, but gets more stick than anybody else in the team, which is what I don't understand. Seems to get more stick when he isn't playing than when he is.

I don't think he's suited to playing week in week out anymore, but I think he's well worth having in the squad as back-up, my only worry is that he's probably one of our top earners, and he's only playing half a season at best, maybe that's a little too much of our budget tied up in a back-up player, who's nearing the end of his career.

I think Andy Gray's made a big contribution to our season

He's probably played his best football for us under the present management team and isn't the only one.

28 goals in 69 at Burnley, 25 in 58 at Sheff U, but some say he's not Championship quality, somehow? then they cream over Craig Davies..

Best season he's had for us

Davies is our main striker, but you need a squad of players and when Gray has come in for the most part he has done well. 6 goals is a decent return.

Craig Davies has also been great for us

He's getting the goals, after stepping up two levels, yet it's still not enough. You said 'all he does is score goals'. That's the major contribution I'd expect from any striker. In the same way, I'd expect the major contribution from a defender would be for him to defend. Of course there's part of his game he can work on and I'd imagine the player and coaching staff are doing just that. It won't happen overnight and a certain level of patience is never a bad thing. But the level of criticism Davies has been getting is just as baffling as it is with Gray.
