Just watched most of the match on Player. Absolutely superb coverage from the production team. For £35 per year or whatever it's fantastic value. For people who live away or abroad, or for people who can't get to matches for whatever reason, Player is brilliant and the new additions this season are very welcome. Well done to all concerned especially the camera team and commentators.
Re: seconded Knocks spots off BBC coverage - same format on fl show - away team off coach , teams walk out then 5 seconds of action
Aye it's belting and also available via the iPhone app as well. A must have for Barnsley fans especially given the 30 seconds we seem to get each week on the Football Legaue show, if they decide to put it on! I've just been watching the game and the interviews myself. We could have had a few more if it wasn't for some great goalkeeping my Casper Schmeicel. Great performance! Really liked what Andy Gray had to say about giving it a go this second half of the season etc.
Can you get match commentary on the iphone app yet or just the match higlights and interviews Must admit I think the extended highlights and full match options are brilliant value at £35 for the season (presumably less if you only pay for the premium iphone app)
The BBC highlights coverage is great too. I especially like the views of the away coach, although a bit more information would be nice, like what make it is, how many miles on the clock, when the next MOT is due etc. Maybe they could take a camera onto the coach and show us how the seats are organised, whether there are tables with drinks holders etc. Then of course the next bit is even better, when the players and manager get off the coach and have to stop and sign autographs and talk to the fans. This could be improved by close ups of the actual act of signing, so we could all check that the signatures are authentic the next time we bid for an autographed ball at a drunken charity do. Obviously the bit where they get changed is missed out, but the walk down the tunnel and the pre-match shaking hands is gripping. After that it's time for the actual match. This is where it really gets................ooops, sorry run out of time.
No but I know quite a few people have requested this feature from Barnsley. I guess other clubs the same. Maybe something that will appear in future?
Agree with all of that. Ive just renewed my subscription - it's very good. Really enjoying the pre match chats with Keith too. Nice to see Matt doing so well. Keith's reply to how the team were looking going into the game was also comedy genius. On another note, i've just watched yesterdays game on Player and there were some some really good performances from players who have come in for a lot of stick at times. People like Jay Mac deserve a lot of credit after that game imo. He made a couple of fantastic tackles and blocks yesterday and used the ball well going forward. Looked a great performance from everyone involved. Chuffed to bits for Andy Gray too. COYR
For us expats "Player" is invaluable especially with the international restrictions of BBC iplayer coverage and our sparse coverage. Imho the coverage this season has been excellent. I really appreciate the "new" pre-match team talk with Keith, Matt and Adam. As previously said, last Saturday's was comedy genius from Keith about his team of supermodels! His relaxed style and confidence (pre-match) is impressive and must transmit to the players. The mix of highlights, extended, and full match coverage is superb quality and value for money. It allows me to still feel involved as a Reds fan - not sure the wife appreciates the full match addition though! So a big and sincere thanks to all the Player team for helping me to enjoy the season so far and capture a sense of the real progress under Hillcroft. Come on you Reds!
It is really much improved on the service from a couple of years ago - not the commentary thats always been quite good but the highlights and even the fact that it usually works now are real big steps forwards Now if only I could listen to the commentary on my iphone ...
We had Bobby H answering Q's on the team coach earlier in the season. As you say, more bus oriented footage is an absolute must. We don't want to step on the BBC's toes though, they are so good at it, they've virtually cornered the market in coach related broadcasting.
