...The first 'Drinkwater wasn't that good anyway' thread? 2 hours for me. Gutted he might be going, but I think it just adds to Keef's reputation of developing players - we've had him for 6 months and he's potentially got a move that he'd never have got otherwise. It's helped us and Man U so expect a few more players coming our way in future.
so our loan deal..that was signed up? will that be honored or will Man Utd just rip that up and sell him to Leicester ? What are the rules here, will the FA insist he stay with us till the end of season or what?
Drinkwater will be missed, no doubt in my opinion, But we have had good performances when he's not played... Leeds and Donnie at home. It all depends how well Mr Hill can pull rabbits out of the hat. Oh and good luck Danny, thanks for your help and I can see why you would want a permanent contract and the security that brings, not sure about Leicester though.
For every player it takes away from us, as in this case, we get a player we would never have been able to afford to buy. A loan system stops the wealthiest just buying a squad of 100 players so others can't have them, ever. My biggest gripe is the joke of the 'emergency loan' deals. Should only be applicable for goalkeepers and then again even League Two teams should have 3-4 on their books. So what if have to play a 16 year old keeper. If he is on the books you were expecting him to be good enough anyway. As it stands there are emergency loans for every type a player when clubs have enough cover. It is their way around not being able to buy, but besides not having the player's registration, the loan signing is basically their player then anyway.
I'd do away with loans, with the exception of U21s. I don't mind letting kids go out on loan to learn their trade, so long as it's to teams in a different league. Otherwise, you can only play for the team who owns your registration. A lot of players might think again about joining teams that already have big squads. And also, you wouldn't have this false economy of teams getting promoted/avoiding relegation using another team's players.
Re: Your timing was a little askew uefa have Rapped the fa on the knuckles, next season emergency loan after transfer window has to be just that---- an emergency loan which must be validated as such........
Re: so our loan deal..that was signed up? It'll have had a clause in it, loan deals often have them in where they can be recalled at any time.
