Be interesting to see what they say . The last taboo in football - wonder how the crowds would take it if one of their own came out. Shouldn't be a problem in 21st century but we all know some fans , as others in society, are not very tolerant

if someones wife leaves them they get stick, if someones caught with there pants down they get stick, if someones been dodging the tax man they get stick, and they just have to put up with it, if you give a ****** some stick it'll be banning orders and massive fines for the club, because people seem to think they are soft *******s that can't take a bit of banter

Is this why the FA is trying to get rid of tackling from behind?

Ironically against the culturally embracing Liverpool.
It'll be interesting to see what their John has to say about it nowadays, fascinating stuff.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

Not just the crowd to worry about. Football's still years behind the rest of society when it comes to tolerance of any kind, and that includes inside the game. The treatment of Fashanu wasn't Cloughie's proudest moment - and there'll be hundreds more like him.

There's a new law about "inciting hatred towards homosexuals" I think, similar to the one about inciting racial hatred so if the crowd did shout abuse the police would just arrest them like they have been doing alleged racists (which is something I'm against personally as a ban would be sufficient) surely this would make it much easier for gay footballers to come out?

Unfortunately that's so true. Joey Barton was the most progressive, enlightened current player interviewed - still surprised he talked so openly. The Fash part was very moving too. And Darren Purse made some interesting points. Purse? Mmmmmm.... Not the most masculine name is it?

Think John McGovern's attitude summed it all up when he laughed at the remark from clough's book where he described fashanu as a puff!

Wore its BBC 3 badge big and shiny on its sleeve

So I didn't feel like it was aimed at me, rather at the yoof. She did a decent enough job of it though. Personally I think her conversation with her dad should have taken place in private not in front of the cameras. It was a very personal matter and it felt exploitative.

Bit disconcerting when the best interview of the show, the most intelligent, the most enlightened and the most compassionate came from Joey ******* Barton.

Barton is a complex character, not always good, but not always the complete ****er he's made out to be. See Robbie Savage, or something.
