I know it's a bit late but I forgot about it. I wasn't able to get to the Swansea game and wondered what people though about Alistair Taylor's performance? I remember his debut and he was running around like a headless chicken, but seemed an alright player. I've since heard a few things about him and wondered how he played?
Ali Taylor didnt play against Swansea did he?? I know he got 20 mins against Millwall, but like RNL yesterday, he looked unfit IMO. Reubs seems to have got bigger, but slower, but tbh, nobody came out of that 2nd half last night with much credit. We gotta stop judging these lads until they get regular game time. And for me, Reubs is a striker, or perhaps a support player ala Butterfield. Wasted on the wrong wide, much like Davies. You wouldnt ask Edwards to play on the wing... some are adaptable - McNulty, O'Brien, Wisey, Bob.. others arent - Davies, Gray, Edwards. Im waffling... time to hit the sack
Dont remember him against Swansea but that doesnt necessarily mean he didnt play as the whole team were poor, a very forgettable performance. He got 20 minutes against Millwall and look frightened to death. Too early to judge on just 20 minutes, but he'll need to fill out and find some bottle if he's to avoid going the same way as 99% of our Academy production line - Worksop Town.
Re: Dont remember him against Swansea I saw him play against Millwall (why he was even thrown on still beats me) and he never got involved. The game was escaping us and at a time when we needed a goal, he takes off arguably one of our biggest threats in Davies and throws on young Taylor. Hardly the time or place to introduce someone with very little experience, and it clearly showed.
Re: Dont remember him against Swansea He did seem timid and out of place, unlike his last appearance, yet he still managed to get to the by line and put a cross in for Gray a free header at the front post. Not a good game to be thrown into to be fair.
If you're good enough, you're good enough our Academy has churned out a lot of non league footballers and very little to speak of, and in the brief cameo, I saw nothing to tell me it will be any different with the latest crop. Looking handy against teenage opposition is a world apart from Championship football. And what the fck has happened to Noble Lazerous? From being a hot prospect, starting to look the part and scoring in last game of last season, he seems to have crashed and burned.
Re: If you're good enough, you're good enough Hows he crashed and burned? He's been injured, he's actually played ok when he's come on. He was a big positive and maybe one of maybe 2 positives that Barnsley fans took away from the Keepmoat. Ali Taylor likes to get to on outside and cross the ball, he's a decent crosser of the ball but you can't just say go on against Millwall when barnsley where on the back foot and up against it in the middle. When you bring these players on you have to be on top and then they will do there stuff. Apparently Taylor's impressed in training and thats why he got on against the lions. He' had a hard time of things really, last 12 months he's been injured twice.
