A English manager for the sake of it or England appointing another foreign coach who's better than any of the English options?

Always take the best coach available. I'll be fecked if I can think of any worthwhile candidates this time around though.

That's why I can't understand all the fuss about Redknapp, upto winning the FA Cup and getting Sp*rs into the top 4 what's he done in the other 28 years of been a manager?

Hiddink as already said he'd be interested also didn't Jose say he was leaving Madrid in the summer?

Exactly. Mclaren only got the job for his nationality. If Mourinho is so unhappy at Madrid he'd be a better choice than Arry.

But if the likes of Jose, Hiddink, Rijkaard etc took over for the euros and England fail, we are back to square 1 with the press demanding a English coach and trying to force whoevers in charge out.

The next manager needs to know the English game inside out that should be the main priority!

    I think the F.A. & London-based sports media

Will be pushing for an Englishman and for it to be Harry Redknapp. There'd be few, if any, other Englishmen who they'd be prepared to accept, in my opinion. If the scope were broadened to include foreign coaches, then the likes of Mourinho, Wenger, Hiddink & Guardiola could all be considered, were they to be interested.

Mourinho would be my first choice. Probably one of the only people with strong enough belief and character to withstand the pressure.

I would be happy with O'Neill, Mourinho or perhaps Redknapp.

I don't think nationality should come into it.

Personally I would like to see an Englishman in charge. International football IMO is about pitting your best against other countries best, including the manager/coaches etc. If we can't find an Englishman to take the role on then we should be fecking embarrassed. Step up Harry your time has come.

Would Redknapp have still been 1 of the 1st choices had he got 3 months today?

Probably not, but he didn't, he was found not guilty. I don't understand why you asked that.

For me, the only big name foreign manager who'd be interested in the job

Is Guus Hiddink, he's had almost every other international job. Redknapp is such short odds that I reckon he'll be the man.

Agreed. Prefer an English manager, but main priorty should be management experience in Premier League / Champions League. International management experience a plus but not absolutely neccessary. Fluent english spoken a neccessity.

Redknapp, Hiddink, O'Neill and Mourinho would all be on my shortlist. Don't think Pep or Arsene would consider it. Fergie too Scottish and old, and he doesn't speak fluent English.

I`d personally like to see Roy Hodgson get the job but like you say the media will be pushing for their own choice.

Once I can get past the not giving a **** about the England team I have to agree that the manager should be English. How many other top national teams have a foreign manager? If we can't pick an English manager then we should be ashamed.

It's very important in my opinion, what's the point in being England if we're not run by an Englishman? Don't like foreign coaches for national teams at all, especially those that can't speak the lingo.
