if we had even the slightest chance of winning the Euros? Truth of the matter is that we haven't got a chance in hell and no one knows that better than Capello. We simply haven't got the players. Even if Capello was the greatest tactician on earth we'd still be miles off. He's certainly not that, and again no one knows that better than Capello. So why stick around to be embarrassed? Much easier to engineer a row over a trivial matter and get the hell out of there. If we'd got a squad as talented as Spain's, Capello would currently be pissing on John Terry from a great height and trying to romance the FA in to giving him an extended deal. If Harry Redknapp knows what's good for him he'll not go near the job. *Please bookmark this post for when we win the Euros.
Greece have won a European Championships. While we're obviously not one of the major contenders, its not out of the equation if you go in with the right tactics and right personnel, and ride your luck.
Having been to the last 2 world cups jay, we canot surely do any were under somebody that can hopefully motivate and players want to play for than Harry. fingers crossed.
His principal statement refered to Anglo-Saxon law; viz. 'a man is innocent until proved guilty'. He was right, the FA were wrong on two scores. Firstly the fact they did not include their appointed Manager in the initial meeting to ask for his view, and secondly. Magna Carta.
Sounds about right to me. We'll flatter to deceive in one game then capitulate against the first good side we come up against.
Nobody has said he's guilty, nor judged him to be. What they have said is that it is incompatable with a programme to "Kick racism out of football" to have the captain of the national team facing charges of racial abuse.
I think you are right to some extent - I think he constructed this due to the fact that a) his position was made untenable and b) he thought we wouldn't win the Euros. Have we got a chance of winning it? Yes, of course we have. We would need to ride our luck somewhat but we are probably in the top 50% of teams player for player, therefore we have a chance. I think it is a good thing he has gone as England tend to perform better in adversity.
I think he wanted out regardless of Englands chances. I sombre think he ever settled here. Stuart pierce to see us through Europe and then appoint manager in the summer.
Does anyon think Capello would have 'resigned' if he hadn't been given £1.5m to do so Man of principle my ar*e.
