When he was a young schoolkid down Worsbrough. Leeds were in the top Division under Revie and Barnsley were in the 4th Division. Most kids back then had a Div 1 favourite side usually Leeds, Liverpool, Man United or Spurs along with struggling Barnsley. Mick's was Leeds like Goughie was Spurs. Barnsley were still his heart.

Gough is a recent convert to Spurs, he never has been anything more than a plastic, part time, big game (finals and only) fan of Barnsley. Like you say though Micks true passion is BFC.

Unless Glen Hoiddle is a newish player for Spurs, you are wrong about Goughie. He was always a BFC fan at school, he was bought a Spurs shirt when he was young and he then started to follow them too. No more a Spurs fan than I am a Stoke City fan.

He once stood on the Ponte for a Sheffield United game he'd gone to with his Uncle Brian. He saw two stewards helping a guy out of the ground who'd been hit and had a bloody nose. It was his Uncle!!

He saw more Barnsley games than Leeds games because his Uncle took him. Macca was also playing a lot so couldn't always get to Oakwell on match days.
