No mate - We want to push on. Have a listen to our Keefs interview after the game last night. See if you think that is a manager thats happy with performances like last night and is happy just to survive. A cracking interview and brutally honest.
Yes, if you beleive all that is written on this message board ..........just count how many posts there have been on here since December relating to - how many points we need for safety In saying that, the manager hasn't helped with his regular comments on the subject. Which seems to suggest that the directors have told HillFlicker that their objective is to keep the club in the Championship. But us fans dont see it like that - the fans look at Barnsley on equal terms to all the other clubs in this league. So we should be worried about relegation but we also should be looking forward to promotion. Whats the point in going to the WELL year in year out if the best we can look forward to is 4th from the bottom of the league.
If they come in and what if they don't. I heard an interview on radio 5 this morning where the guy stated that 8 championship clubs were paying out over 100% of their income on wages. How can we ever compete in this league if we're the only ones playing by the rules that may or may not come in.
I've been saying that for ages. We are trying, for all the right reasons I hasten to add, to run at break even. Other clubs aren't so why would they ever vote these changes through. We are hoping that we will be ahead of the game, but looking at the propsals anyway, they are as usual half arsed and half baked. The top and bottom of it is that our income is not high enough. Aside from banging prices up and the worst possible time we don't seem to be able to think (or do) anything else to increase revenue. Not that cheap prices = bigger gates. Winning football = bigger gates. Competing in this league is just going to get harder, with or without the rules unless clubs start taking finances seriously.
