Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. Enlightening comments on that thread imho.
Re: Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. Dreamboy doesn't like homosexuality rammed down his throat. He prefers to slide it down gently. Personally, if I was gay and a professional footballer I don't think I'd be open about. Why give people a stick to beat you with.
Re: Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. Likewise - heard John Barnes interviewed about racism - he made the point that fans take their prejudices into stadiums with them - not the other way round and so its a society wide problem, it's not football fans turning society racist/homophobic/belt-less. Wonder what's happened to Dreamboy that he has such a phobia of things being rammed down his throat ?
I'm surprised that no footballers (specifically lower league) have seen the opportunity to make an absolute killing by being the first openly gay footballer since Justin Fashanu. There'd be magazine deals from everywhere, and lots of interviews etc. As long as they do it whilst they're still playing they would be rolling in cash. If I were a footballer I think I'd just say I was gay to set the precedent and help others come out...and make some money - obviously.
Re: Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. Exactly the point I made in the other thread and exactly the reason why this new 'initiative' won't work IMO.
Re: Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. You can't eradicate prejudice from football in isolation - that's been proved with the racism thing - alright (thankfully) you don't hear the abuse of a few years back - but recent events show that the underlying problem is still there. Sepp.
Re: Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. I've just posted exactly the same in the other thread.
Re: Signing up to the 'homophobia down your throat' initiative then. There's only me & thee talk any sense on here....
No, just the two of you I'm an optimistic happy-clapper when it comes to our club, so my views are pointless and worthless.
If you really want my opinion I think we're doing very well this season, despite the tight financial restrictions placed upon the manager. After losing Drinkwater & Vaz Te to other clubs, along with Butterfield to long term injury, we've struggled to find the consistency and attractive play we were enjoying pre Christmas. However, we're as close to the league leaders, points wise, as we are to the relegation places, so we aren't doing that poorly. According to some, though, we've got a squad of **** players and they're **** because they've come from clubs lower down in the football pyramid. Also, if a new player doesn't hit the ground running, then his abilities are immediately called into question. Settling in periods are no longer permitted. I enjoy watching us under Hill, more so than any other time since promotion. Not every game is enjoyable, but I believe the majority are. Even when we win and play well, sadly, some folk always seem to want to look for negatives. It appears to be the 'in thing' to query and question anything & everything the club and it's employees say and do to the minutest detail, usually to the detriment of the club. If things were as bad as is sometimes made out, then we'd be in Doncaster's position. As I said, I'm an optimistic happy-clapper, therefore my opinions can be called biased, inaccurate and unrealistic.
Re: If you really want my opinion Me too. Glad to say that both Hill/Flitcroft and the majority of the 'lower league' signings have proved my early season fears to be unfounded. I think there are still issues but you cannot judge this season on a short spell of games. Considering the reduction in budget, the disruption to what was becoming one of the best midfields in recent seasons and where most of our squad has come from, if we finish the season where we are now it will have been a resounding success imho.
Re: If you really want my opinion Championship football next season and another chance to stuff the Leeds scum. Get in.
