I'm not a major fan of someone who simply has energy and very little end product.

    BUT..............

I thought he had a half-decent game tonight and worked hard.

Getting games under his belt. Planning for next year.

More concerned with how we decided to pump it long with him up front with Davies.

He is one signing I really cannot make head nor tail of!
he was not good enough in this division when he played for Scunny, yet we buy him!
I hope he turns out to be a lot better than he looks so far.

First time I have seen him play and tbh thought he looked out of his depth, might have just been the type of service he was getting though

    Can't fault his work rate

Unfortunately though he lost possession every time he got the ball.

Being honest rather than trying to say the right thing then he doesn't look very good.

We'll have to hope he can improve.

Re: Can't fault his work rate

We are going to end up with a team that can run for ever, but are not very good players. We need a blend of skill and workrate.
Workrate alone will not win many games.

Whilst I'm not exactly convinced by Dagnall, you can't accuse him of much that the rest of the team weren't guilty of. He put plenty of effort in, but high balls up to him aren't reallt what he needs (I assume).
Think we just need to take tonight on the chin. Birmingham never gave us any time or space, and the only way we were going to get past their back four was if someone took the responsibility & ran at them. Didn't happen, they have the quality, we don't unfortunately. Think we gave them a decent game though.
But in answer to your question, on what I've seen, I'd prefer several other players up front ahead of him. Done, Gray, Rose to name three.

No there are some skilled player in the lower leagues too. Just that we seem intent on buying anyone that has played for Rochdale in the past and can run around a lot, if they can play football as well its a bonus.

I was not accusing him of anything, just wondered why we bought him, because if he is better than the youngsters , then we are buggered.

Agree, will take something special for Keff to say his transfer worked out. Also Edwards can only hit it long, ala Foster. We need someone inbetween them two and Ferdinand like play maker McNulty at back

No, I know you weren't accusing him .... turn of phrase ... :) (And I agree... prefer to see a young, lively Rose, with the Ponty End encouraging him, than a Dagnall who everyone is indifferent to already)

I have heard allsorts of good things about these youngsters we have , yet when we have a chance to use them they get over looked for someone that should not be playing at this level, he could not do it at Scunny and he looks no better here.
Rose and Taylor etc should be getting games before the likes of Dagnall, maybe they cant run around as much?

    Taylor is worse than Dagnall.
