this is a club in 19th position in league 2.

They charged pay on the gate spectators £1 to get in.

    Attendance-17,014.

good attendance but after all it is a city.

Say 7,000 more turned up then = £7,000 receipts
Only need 305 through turnstile at Oakwell at £23 to make same amount.

If we did this, honestly how many of the extra number who came would return the week after? BFC keeps doing promotions but you'll always get those who only go the once for the price.

Suppose it all depends on the form of the team and the opponents for the match in question.

From Bradford's point of view it is good PR given where they are in the league and the fact they are struggling off the field financially.

That's why they are 19th in League 2, they have no revenue.

Well if our gates continue on the decline we too will have no revenue.

Only reason i posted it was just to make people aware of the increase in attendance it made.I am a BFC fan commenting on a gesture that Bradford City made.I am sure fans of other clubs wil have noticed this too.Maybe it was just a one off by the Bradford City board but it cannot have done their Public Relations any harm.

There is absolutely no benefit to be gained from charging people a quid.

the increased staffing costs and police costs would have completely wiped out any financial gain of 7,000 extra bums on seats, and have a look at their next games attendance at the full price.

They only did it to get a big turnout for an important game at bottom of table.
    They charged Hereford supporters £20.00

I can see the logic in generating an atmosphere in an important game but i imagine it has cost them financially so probably not something they'll repeat too often.

Can that still be done if the most expensive home seat is less than £20?

The reality is there is a relationship between reducing prices and increased attendance. Our aim shouldbe to find the point at which we have a high enough attendance paying a lower entrance fee which achieves the same revenue as the current average attendance. This will then have the added benefits of a bigger crowd to support the team AND as increased revenue from food, drink, programmes etc.

Unfortunately I am not an economist so I can't work out what the level is. However, it shouldn't be beyond someone at the club (or a fan) to work it out.

The best suggestion I've heard on here was that you should be able to buy a £200 charge card, which gets you entrance at say £18 a game, to be used whenever you want throughout the season.

Tried and failed. The £15 tickets saw no increase in attendance.

We wouldn't make any extra money from snap or programmes as it's all tendered out.

The odd one of game can hardly be used to make that argument. It needs to be a long term commitment over a period of time. And if the attendances are greater then the tender price from those providing catering would reflect that

Perhaps true. But we can't sustain losses over a period of time required to try this.

But there must be some form of statistical analysis or project modelling which can establish the tipping point. For example someone with a mathematical brain at Oakwell should be able to work out that at £20 a game to achieve the same income as we currently recieve from match tickets we would need an average attendance of x. From that point they could work out the likelihood of that being achieved.

Expensive gamble. If we tried £15 tickets over a period of say half a dozen games we would have to see a substantial increase in attendances to make the same kind of revenue.

I reckon West Ham would have sold out regardless of it being on the Beeb or being £30 so we've lost over £40,000 there - this won't be made up by an increase in home fans.

I don't think we will get the extra fans. Cost is a massive factor, I agree, but people want to see a winning team. And they will pay to see one.

They probably have. Then we weren't getting x at £20 they had to increase it.
