Re: Collective shame Tell you what though, they are right about someone shouting "SCABS" and that person being a *****!!!
Re: Collective shame i hate this game, due to our fans most of who'm have never seen a mine, shouting scabs to their fans, who've probably never seen a mine either.
Re: Collective shame Yep. Me too. But some of their remarks would lead you to believe we were all scum, and that Nottingham isnt in fact a far worse shithole than most parts of England... its a fcukin dump, full of wannabe gangsters
Re: Collective shame its the age old practice of goading fans. its been going on for years the fact there was a miners strike and the fact that some miners went back to work in notts has almost nothing to do with fans goading each other today. but its a chance to get at opposing fans.next week they'll be goadi8ng the middlesbrough fans and the notts fans will be goading whoever. don't see how its any different from years before tbh. at least there'll be an atmosphere.
Loved the bit about them keeping our pits open and we were shirkers or whatever. I must have been on another planet when the Yorkshire coalfield was criminally & systematically shut down' and then of course, it was their turn. On another note, don't know why the topic of scab chanting creates so much feeling. Too much made of it really in my opinion, there are plenty of chants out there that are a lot worse.
Re: Collective shame Anyone would think that Nottingham was some kind of Utopia the way some of them are bitching about Barnsley.
Re: Collective shame I like the comment that said "hate the place, I went once and it rained all day" - I forgot the different climate down south!
Re: Loved the bit about them keeping our pits open and while they were shutting our pits down, the tories who had promised them their pits were safe were shutting their pits just as quickly,,,,,they havnt even been forgiven for scabbin in the 1926 strike,,,so dont expect us who were on strike in 1984 to feel anything toward them,,they didnt give a flyin f**k about our pits being earmarked for closure and it came back and bit 'em big style cause they've only one pit left now...and for those of you who think we were wrong trying to get the government to back down, take a look around and see what jobs we have now, especially for you younger lot,,and notts is no different and thats why its a sh*t hole.. also a word for those of you that wernt miners who think our pits were nothing but money loosing sh*t hole, you are wrong, they were only loosing money cause the tories lumped all the interest rates on individual pits after the restructuring of the industry after the 1970's middle east oil crisis.....the plan for coal was brought in to save us from being dependent on overseas energy,,,and to stop us being held to ransom over oil prices.we warned the country in 1984 what would happen, why do you think most of your wages gets spent on trying to heat your houses and why do you think its nearly 1.50/ltr for oil?? i will never forgive the notts scabs for letting everyone else down,if it wernt for them we'd still have an industry.f**k em
Re: Collective shame Aye they only get the odd spot of rain, and always at night, down there in Nottingham. From their perspective it would be like it snowing on their safari holiday in Kenya.
I had the misfortune of having to make house calls for three evenings on the trot for work, in the Bullwell area, in the early 70's. Even back then it was a frightening experience, a complete **** hole full of scummy gangs roaming the streets, even if appointments were only 100 yards apart I would get in the car and drive that distance it was that scary. I dread to think what it is like now, probably where all the tooled up gangsta's live now.
Re: Loved the bit about them keeping our pits open and Correct dek. **** em. I'll be wearing my NUM badge. I AM NOT A SCAB.
Weren`t their fans investigated by the police for racist chanting, this season, during FA Cup tie against Leicester. Little angels really aren`t they.
Re: Collective shame Agreed. People not born when the strike happened, chanting SCABS to away fans many who also wasn't born during the strike. Just people doing it for the sake of it instead of getting behind the team.
Re: Collective shame They'll like us less still if we give them a nudge into the third division. I honestly believe a game between Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday in League One would be so huge that the universe would crash. My brain can't comprehend how four trillion fans will all fit into the same football stadium at the same time.
Always enjoy our games v Forest For spotty 14 year olds chanting scab. Great fun. Hope they get relegated then the ritual may end for a season or two ffs.
Re: Always enjoy our games v Forest Put a few extra bums on seats over the years and a few sheckells in our poor box.
Re: Always enjoy our games v Forest This is true, small mercies and that. Scab scab scabby ******* scab scabbing b.stard scabby scabs. For 90 minutes.
