3 lads from wakefield are going to travel 92 hours to see every single football ground in the football league and finishing at Oakwell on Saturday. how can they physically do this in 92 hours? surely that is impossible. anyone like to talk me threw it?
Is it for charity? do they have a website or anything or just did it off their own backs pissed up in the pub, now driving around in a Cortina.
it is for a cancer charity they are expected to raise £500. hats off to them for trying and doing something for charity but chuffing hell its going to be hard to complete this task
Re: Depends on their mode of transport they are doing it via car, driving constantly, sharing it between them
Re: I highly doubt it. Why can't they get between two football grounds in one hour? Is there a single football ground that is at least one hour from any other? I know there are grounds that are only minutes apart so surely that will make up for the longer journeys!
92 league clubs so 1 an hour. In effect you have to be able to get to each ground within 1 hour of the last. There are plenty that are clustered together so it will balance out the ones that are a distance.
Re: I highly doubt it. Many are in clusters, which makes it easier. Up the M1 past Leeds. north east... north west.. down through the west midlands into south wales. The South west back to London and back up the A1. Should be possible
Re: I highly doubt it. Would Carlisle be the "loneliest" Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol all can be done within a hour couldn't they? Plymouth - Exeter - Torquay the same...
There a areas of the country where there is a high concentration of grounds within a relatively short distance of each other so although there are some long distances involved I reckon its possible in 92 hours.
exactly what i have said... but whoever said surely every ground has another ground as close to it with in a hours drive, means nothing. say if they went to everyone in yorkshire and finished with leeds what would be the nearest one then? middlesborough? thats more than an hour, i would like to get a map off net and work out the exact distance and everything. that would be an interesting game tbh, who can travel to every ground in the uk in the shortest distance/time via google maps. lol
Piece of piss when you think about it. Three of us drove to the South of France in less than 24 hours so I'm sure a circular tour of England can be done in four days, sharing the driving. Route needs a bit of planning but basically if you started in Carlisle and went down the west side of Britain taking in all the Lancashire clubs, West Midlands, South Wales and South West then across the bottom to London taking in the South Coast and the M4 corridor to London. Then over to Suffolk & Norfolk and zig-zag back to the M1 to take in all the East Midlands, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire then up to Durham, Tyne & Wear and finish at Newcastle.
It does mean something. If you have done 5 grounds in an hour you can afford to take a few hours to get to the next.
I'm sure it's possible, but why would they finish in Barnsley? Would have thought they would finish in Plymouth Carlisle Newcastle or Brighton. Wonder how many miles they need to travel.
the trick will be to aim to hit London in the middle of the night when there is no traffic other than taxis about - they could then knock about 12 of them off in a couple of hours. That would give them some slack on the 1 an hour ratio. Get the timing wrong and hit London during the daytime and they are knackered.
