thanks for your time with us ..... I bear you no grudges and wish you all the best. You are a big boy now and obviously mature enough to make your own decisions. However I have dug out some of my older 'Dear John' letters* to other footballers from our recent and not so recent past who moved on only to disappear into the ether. * obviously these were never real letters, I have just made them up for the purposes of this post. "Dear Mr McIndoe, pray tell how did your international career pan out after leaving the reds? Indeed, where are you now?" "Dear Mr Nardiello, how many motorway u-turns did your agent have to make before you ended up at Exeter. You could have been well up there on the list of Red legends but for that one day when the chance of a bigger pay packet became bigger than your overall career. I'd actually STILL welcome you back but please don't let your agent drive" "Dear Mr Currie. I really enjoyed your first spell at the club but how did it go working for Mr Clough ? Did all that playing time you got in the top league stand you in good stead for the rest of your career ? You were such a non-entity at Forest you could have almost ended back up at Barnsley ! Oh, ang on a mo !" "Dear Adam, nice to see you the other night. How's the Prem ?" Dear Mr Bogdanovich, I'd like to discuss your career move from Barnsley. In fact hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Is Rochdale like Malta ? Some players are never the same after moving on - they are a good 'fit' at one club but the grass isn't always greener when upping sticks. Please decide carefully - you are well thought of here. Any more ?
Dear Brian... Such a shame your move to the Blunts didnt work out and your hoped for promotion to the Prem went so badly wrong Still at least you got some more money for a while
Re: Dear David Hirst was it the healthy Sheffield diet that made you the fat coont you now are ? Thanks
Re: Dear David Hirst It's the same as Vaz Te. If he doesn't want to be here, let him go. We don't need or want players at Oakwell who don't want to take pride in pulling on the red and white.
I heard at the time when Currie turned up for his first training session at Forest Cloughie had to ask who he was and wasn't aware he'd signed him. Not sure how true that is though.
I heard that, and Cloughie asked who signed him. Currie replied, "You did, boss". To which Clough replied, "You're crap" and walked away.
Ronnie Glavin Wasn't a great success in Portugal - may have been because he was in the twilight of his career. These lot didn't do a lot either. Nicky Eaden. Ian Banks. Darren Barnard. Brian Howard. Martin Bullock. Steve Agnew Exceptions:- Stuart Barrowclough Mick McCarthy Tommy Tailor Pat Howard Andy Rhodes Neil Redfearn Clive Baker
Re: Ronnie Glavin I don't think that's fair on Eaden. He achieved far more in his career by leaving us than he would have done if he stayed! Played in a League Cup final for Birmingham, got promoted to the Prem with Wigan. I thought Eaden was treated shabbily by a section of the Barnsley fans
Re: Ronnie Glavin Beresford, S. Gray and Barker didn`t do badly after leaving then we seemed to take an age to get a good leftie.
I remember Dominik Werling He could hit a free kick really, really, really hard. Couldn't defend, tackle, dribble, pass or cross though. Which makes it difficult to believe anyone ever thought he'd be a good footballer. Still, didn't stop us signing him and repeatedly playing him.
at the end of the day if someome offered me 4 times mi current wage for 10 years to swap jobs and empty the bins and sweep the gutter............ i would do it cos the money would be guaranteed. You can't blame Buttercup or anyone else for doing it as well...... why work for a relative pittance when you can quadruple ure cash for the same thing. Especially in Buttercup's case cos he probably realises the same as thereev already knows....buttercup aint nowt special anyway so get it while you can. hope this helps
Re: Ronnie Glavin Taggart Tiler Hignett De Zeeuw all succeeded, more than they would with us. Not sure what happened to Bullock, wasn't he just surplus to requirements?
Re: Ronnie Glavin AIRTyke has him locked in a room at home. Lets him out once a week to tell him (again) how he dumped Sol Campbell on his arse. Total fact.
