At the latter end of last year i had a few issues going on in my personal life and to cut a long story short became single after a nine year relationship. Was at a very low ebb for a good few weeks and did a lot of comfort eating and drank a lot at home. After giving myself a bit of a pep talk about stopping feeling sory for myself i decided i would focus a bit of time and effort in getting fit and healthy and make some changes.

I have been a member of the DW fitness for quite a few years but would be lucky if i went once a week just to pass half an hour on.A couple of weeks before Christmas i weighed myself and realised i was 16stone 2 lbs which is what i did not want to be as i did not feel good about myself and at that point i decided i would do something about it. I now no longer eat chocolate, biscuits, crisps or takeaways and have cut down greatly in what alcohol i consume.I try to eat healthier and at set times and avoid snacking.I am also going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week now without fail and hitting the treadmill big time (ten mile runs).I am now down to 14stone 5lbs and feel a lot better about myself and a damn site more healthier.

No one has made me do this apart from myself. When back then i used to feel peckish i would eat a sandwich or chocolate bar whereas now i have some fruit or a cereal bar and when i felt tired on the treadmill i would just stop and get off whereas now i am telling myself i can keep going.

Never thought back then in November/December i would be where i am now but a bit of strong will and focus has got me through these last few months.

Just thought i would share what i have been doing with you guys.

Also if anyone is struggling or having issues then pm me and i will try and offer whatever advice or support i feel i can give.

Tis a shame you can't do the Fit Reds. Well worth it.

I've just finished the last course (ended last week) and lost over 1 1/2 stone in the 8 weeks (Now at 13st7lb). I'm eating more than I used to, but eating the right foods at the right times.

    Re: Well Done Jack!!

First 15 mins or so is education, talking about foods, fats, salts, mens health etc. Then some light jogging around stadium or up the stairwells. 15-20 mins of stretching and core exercise, then 30 mins in Gym for mixture of cardio and strength exercises. Last 30 mins is playing football on the all weather outside.

Each week your asked to keep a food diary, recoding everything you eat and drink. Then they give you advice on where you should be changing your foods. I recorded all my food and exercise using www.myfitnesspal.com (app also available for Android and iPhone). Then transferred to a sheet each week to hand in.

Reduced the wasteline / beer gut by 8cm and can fit into clothes I hadn't worn for years :)

Well done JT. I weighed 16.4 in January, heaviest I've ever been and wasn't good. Mainly cycle but now down to 15.4, ideal weight would be 14st.

    Again well done.

    Well done mate !!

I have done a similar thing.

I go to DW and have been paying to go about once a week I'd been on an unhealthy diet and far too much alcohol since about November. This is not like me.

Weight's never been a problem to me at about 12st but the distribution of that weight was a bit wrong and I felt crap.

About three weeks since I gave my self the talking to and set myself targets

    1. Food - to eat breakfast, porridge and honey. Snack on fruit a minimum of five a day. A salad at lunch mainly with fish. A proper meal at tea time.

    2. Alcohol- a minimum of three alcohol free days and a reduction on the others.

    3. At least four times to the Gym a week for about 1hr 20 min a time

So far so good, I feel better and the waistline has reduced to a genuine 34"

    Again all the best

And I may bump into you at DW

    Dave

    Re: Well Done Jack!!

kektype, is that mountain or road bike?

I'm doing this circuit which is about 90% off road (Trans Pennine Trail). I start in Darton, heading up Kek then down to Cawthorne, Silkstone. Worsborough, Wombwell, Cudworth and back.

I've started cycling to work - Tarn to Durkar. Haven't lost a pound though I've saved quite a few and my calves are like cast iron.

From bottom of Cawthorne lane, on corner after bridge / river, you cut left up a bridle path. Cross the A635 and back on the path until bottom of Silkstone (Barnsley Road). Then at miles 4/5 is the killer hill up to the top of Silkstone Common (Cone Lane). Over the A328 and down Moorend Lane to join the TPT at the bridge. It's relatively all down hill then for next 5 miles to Wombwell.

I'm a big fat ******* too, after Christmas i went back to work and could hardly walk and ended up having 4 days off work sick due to my foot hurting so much. i felt this must be down to the weight i was carrying i've always been a fat lad but its never bothered me, but now it's effecting my ability to work and pay the bills, so i thought enough is enough it's time to do something about this before it cripples me for good, since January 16th i've stopped, Having pop, crisps, sweets, chocolate, biscuits, takeaways fried food and milk, started eating breakfast and veg with every meal. ive gone from 134kg and last Friday i was 120kg that's around 19st so ive lost about 2 stone in 2 month and i feel really well about it too. hopefully if i can lose another couple of stone, my feet will feel the benefit, and i'll be able to start exercising too. I set myself a target of getting to 14stone because that's what i was when i stopped smoking 7 years ago and i felt happy with my weight back then. only another 30kg to go hopefully i can do it within the next 18/24 months

i used to do 25-30 miles 3x a week on the t.p.t started doing fit reds and blew my knee, just had surgery 2 weeks ago and need toget shut of about 3-4 stone, i'm a member of d.w. but my head was a shed last year and thats when i put all trhe weight back on; i seriously need a mental kick up the ar5e and a goal, so does anyone fancy doing the full t.p.t, southport to hornsea later in the year ( closed season) 4 days at 45 miles a day for a charity, ask some of the footy clubs on route if some of their players will join us whilst going through their areas, blackpool, liverpool, everton, man utd,man city, stockport, glossop, tarn, donneh, hull......................... just a thought.
