are people of the opinion that Keith Hill will continue to only make signings from leagues 1 and 2 during the Summer?

yes, because all the free transfers from the chapionship and premiership, will go to the clubs who pay the most for them. left scratting off scraps.

think it all depends on which of the bigger earners we get off the wage bill, gray and mcceverly must be among the top earners, and how much we get for butters, while lower league players all the time isnt ideal, the players some would like to see us sign are out of reach, especially in the january window when prices get inflated, unless we are the selling club ofc

I dont think we are guaranteed safety this season,if we lose our next 2 matches which looks highly likely after Saturdays debacle, and Donny win their next 2 we are in a relegation battle. This side dont seem to have the heart for a fight and the managers strange tactics and inconsistent team selection dont help. Why play Doyle when he shunned him all season and why stick Danny Rose on his own up front.Maybe it will be a blessing if we go down this season instead of prolonging the agony next season.

I suppose it'll all depend on the budget made available to him

I don't agree with the argument that a player's abilities equate to the club he's at. If it were true, Ranger, Smith, Tonge & Cotterill would all have been a success this season. Even going for experienced Championship players offer no guarantees. You only have to look at some of our current playing staff who meet that requirement and see the criticism levelled at them (Hassell, Foster, Doyle, Gray, McEveley, for example). So the manager certainly has his work cut out.
I doubt very much if any summer signing (irrespective of who they are, or where they come from) will be met with universal approval.

To be fair from now til August I may as well not log on here. I'll only wind myself up. You can write the script.

I don't care where he signs players from

I just want him to sign better players than he has done.

This latest set of players he's signed (Smith, Tonge, Cotterill, Dawson, Golbourne, Dagnall, Nouble) have come from a variety of different levels but between them they've produced next to **** all for the side. We would have faired just as well, probably better, if we'd used our own youth players rather than sign any of the above. What Digby and Rose have shown far exceeds the efforts of any of this lot.

It's not about where we get our players from, it's about getting the right players but we're just not doing that.

To be honest you could've said that at the end of September. He's trying to sort half a new side out mid season. If players don't settle in straight away then you're struggling - and we are.

Agreed. Rose wanted to get stuck in and you could see it was hurting him that we were losing. Stones was an improvement when he came on too.

They're not likely to settle in either when Hill makes 4 or 5 changes every game. Most of them nothing to do with injuries.

We play a different formation, different tactics with different personnel every single game. My head is spinning never mind the players.

For the first five months of the season we played the same formation every week more or less. We had a couple of poor results but then the players got used to it and settled in to a rhythm. There's no chance of that happening now.

Think he's learning too. About himself and the demands of The Championship - and the players he's signed. Perhaps feels certain formations suit certain players better ? I dunno, not defending everything he's done but I think there's a bigger background to this season than previous seasons, both before the season started and the events during.

There's only one way to never make a mistake - and that's never to do anything at all.

I've said to Jay you can't defend everything that's happened this season, but Hill's learning too - and the apparent sense of entitlement that has developed in some tarn supporters is ludicrous the way it comes out on here.

My lovely wife reckons I've only ever made one mistake in life...tho I'm not sure breathing can be classed as a mistake
