Dawson was outstanding. To lose your central midfield partner in that situation and then have to play a narrow 3 with two wide players must have been incredibly tough - constantly talking them through it. Some lung-busting runs towards the end, great performance from him. Cotterill also excellent though exhausted towards the end - I also thought Wiseman had a good game if I'm honest.
His touch occasionally can get away from him, but generally I would say yes. A couple of really nice passes to release Matt Done down the left hand side (one leading to the goal), and one of his runs near the end he ran onto the ball in his own half, headed past one defender, flicked it around the next and ran around the other side of him, before driving on to the edge of the box and being brought down. He's certainly no Butterfield or anything like that, but I wouldn't say he was void of technical ability.
Did the simple things well and made a couple of decent through balls. He didn't look out of place in ythis league, but Peterborough gave us more room to play than Reading. I like him. I couldn't fault any player in a red shirt today for effort or technical application.
Had a great game Very committed player, who likes to get stuck in, he'll be a fans favourite if nothing else. For me Wiseman was our best player today, big fan of his usually, but he was sensational today, defended really well, something which has been questionable all season imo. Goldbourne and McNulty were good too, as was Done, and even Foster was much more solid. Give me these 'lower league' players over the overpaid prima donna's everyday of the week.
Don't think he's gonna get the goals Redders got, but especially after he was named man of the match, he made some brilliant runs into the opposition areas and tried to create things. Great display, got his acustomed yellow card too.
My New hero Tremendous effort... Where he found the energy for those runs out of defence, I'll never know.
Agree with the Dawson shouts - incidentally even sat at the back of ES upper, you could hear him barking instructions to his teamates! Done, Wiseman & Cotts were good too, Gray was until he ran out of steam in the second half.
Agreed. A great performance considering what happened with Doyle and well worth the man of the match award. Got to say I thought Gray played well today as well.
It was a great performance from Dawson, he was everywhere. Could easily have been Goldbourne, Gray, Cotterill or Wiseman or Done for MOTM though. The whole team played its part.
Agreed. He's really good at going forward and has the confidence to take on a man. He should be played on the wing.
When we get Perkins back we will have two workaholics in midfield. I can't think of any one who didn't play well today. They gave us just what we want hard graft and 3 points.
