Following on from dustani's thread, I wonder how much Don and co are planning to charge POTD supporters next season..? Will we see an end to the category system, and go back to a flat rate? And will the well intentioned, but poorly implemented 1912 scheme continue? . Im of the opinion that twenty is plenty for football at this level. And so Id charge £20 for every match across the season, regardless of opposition. Then of course charge £10 for kids and OAP's, and £15 for students (aged 16 to 21). We need to get away from fleecing our core support, and at the same time fleecing Leeds and (probably) the deedars. If everyone knew it was a flat rate every week, it would help. Because I know of many lapsed fans who got the impression every game was £30 this year, until I corrected em. I managed to coax a few lads into attending a game before xmas, and they turned up for Bristol City and I swear to God they saw the price and turned away. A good decision as it happened... Clarity in ticket pricing has to be a priority, with 3 months of solid marketing/promotion. I wont hold my breath. . I just get the feeling though, that if season ticket prices have gone up - they have, unless you're wealthy enough to pay well in advance - that surely the club wont then drop matchday prices? And with 2 of Wendy, Hudds and Blunts possibly returning to the division, Don and co will chase a quick buck at the expense of dwindling crowds. What do you ugly lot reckon? I am sure 1 or 2 of you may have a good price structure, and maybe the club could read this and take heed..?
£20 a match is £460 over the course of a season. Season tickets purchased after June cost £355 so a saving of £105 over the season. Not much of an incentive.
Have two categories. A ones being no more than 10 of 23 games. Ideally derbies and big clubs. However besides Leeds and maybe one or two of Sheffield clubs, make it clear that decision on category to be made a month in advanced (as initially mooted by club before changing mind) A games £25 B games £20 Odd promotion of £15 only if needed (low in league for example or if many home games in one month) Retain scheme (1912) and say £10 as now, all games £3 off - not 5 as both categories already well priced. Total Matchday price before discount £510. With scheme £441. As not million miles more than ST prices, ensure ST holders still priority for everything (cup at home and away plus when small allocations away)
Should keep the new STH referal from last season that appears to have been quietly dropped. Give all STHs a 1912 card so they can help out friends who aren't STHs to presuade them to come more often.
To add to last paragraph, paying for lots of matches on the day will be more appetising when you realise it ain't gonna cost double what a ST holders gets their seat for e.g. £14/15 a match. Might encourage those who pay on gate 5 times a season do it 10-15 times. Still think club payment scheme is commendable.
I never said you did. I was just pointing out why I didn't think £20 was a fair price compared to the cost of a season ticket. I'd charge a flat rate of £24 for all games. £20 with a memebership card but if STs are going up then membership cards have to aswell.
I see your logic, but cant see many stayaways paying 24 sheckels to watch us play Peterbro. Although not many bothered last weekend at 16. Its hard this isnt it?
Bigger disparity between the categories and fewer Cat A games. Cat A games should be perhaps against the top two, or a big "prem" team i.e. Newcastle a few seasons back or the derbies. These should be £29. I think people would pay that. The other home games should be £19. I am not sure if this would work out as its all to do with price elasticity and break even figures but one thing for sure is that the current system does not work and id driving fans away long term.
Keep the category system But use it purely to fleece away supporters who are expected to bring a big following. £30 for Category A, which this season should have been reserved purely for Leeds. And possibly West Ham if they're planning to fill the away end. Add Sheff Wed if they come up. £20 for Category B, for most games of the season. £10 for Category C, reserve for one or two 'incentive' matches during the season. If fixture list allows, use this for specific times (e.g. opening day, boxing day, easter monday) to try to attract a crowd. Then advertise that all but a few games will be £20 under the 'twenty is plenty' banner.
Re: Keep the category system 20 quid a ticket in ponty end, less categories (ie under 12, under 17, student, between 36 and 38, if you were born in october or february etc), stick the away fans in the west upper tier and charge them more. i still dont understand why season tickets cost more if you sit in the east or west but match day tickets cost the same. there is NO justification for it.
So because it's in place we should never scrap it and instead keep it forever? Would you say the 1912 membership has been a success in the two seasons we've had it? Out of 10 on a success scale i'd probably give it a 3 or 4.
Re: Keep the category system No there isn't. As I said earlier, £20 a ticket reduces the value of a ST and the club does not want to be discouraging people from buying them.
Re: Keep the category system 22 quid then? dont forget that by putting away fans in the more expensive seats they could charge more for the east and west stands again.
