Always goes quiet mate when Transfer Window is shut! No rumours flying around to gossip abart..... Plus we aren't playing very well at the minute so alot will be putting Football to the back of the minds as much as allows!!!

It will pick back up though - As soon as a rumour starts that Kevin Phillips is signing or Bill Dodder from Rochdale this place will be back to its best!!

    Number of reasons

    1. Many of the best posters on here have left so it's not as amusing, interesting and informative anymore.

    2. I used to come on here for gossip, transfer news etc but Twitter is much better for that now

    3. I'm sick of the negativity and up and down nature of posting. One week Hill's our best ever manager, the next he should be sacked etc. I'd rather discuss it with rational people who I follow on Twitter and friends/family who support Barnsley.

Twitter is definitely better for a more perspective-driven debate. Too OTT on here, especially post-match

I used to come on here for up-to-date news but things like newsnow have made this site a bit redundant in comparison.

Also, as someone who enjoys watching Barnsley (win, lose or draw) I don't really like the polarised views on here. That works both ways, I don't like people who whinge every time the result isn't right and I also don't like people who thank everyone at the club each time we win.

One of the reasons I love supporting Barnsley is that we're crap but we know it. We don't think we're the best so everything we do win feels like more of an achievement. The problem isn't this message board, it's message boards in general. Too many keyboard warriors and not enough contributors and discussion.

A return of girl friday would help. :D

I'd say almost all our signings this season I've found out about on Twitter first.

Like when that Leeds fan said we'd abused Billy the Blunt? Full of perspective that was.

Because a properYorkshireman only says owt when he's summat to say.

Not endlessly yapping on about nothing like a chatty cathy doll.

There's going to be a few weeks or even months whens there's little to chat about.

Mainly cos posters post the same thing time and time again, it's like a washing machine...

I was born in San Diego though...
And this thread was in relation to Young Nudger saying that its dead on ere due to thereev, and other such posters. I dont agree with that, and so I wondered what others thought

I meant what I said. You don't always have something to say about every post. Might be weeks before you can be arsed. No point posting stuff for the sake of it, thereev style.

supporting barnsley has just been really really dull for the past few months, i've enough on dragging myself to games than reading about stuff on here

    2 reasons

    1. It has become impossible to have a sensible debate without Hemsworth Tyke taking over and making a mockery of decent replies and opinions

    2. Its impossible to have a positive opinion about the team or management without 20 other people saying its rose tinted glasses and that we will be imploding in the near future.

I personally thought Robins was doing a good job. I think Hill is doing a better one on less resources. State that on here and you get shot down. Its become a board not for sharing and debating opinions - but for those that shout the loudest and most often.

    Getting a little repetitive

The same boring posts from the same posters.

Some of the negativity is baffling, and some people don't understand that because someone has a differing opinion to them, it doesn't mean they're wrong.

It's always the same this time of year tbh, it'll pick up when there's renewed optimism come september time.

As you can see I rarely post even though I read the majority. The main problem is that the "intelligent " posts are getting fewer and the boring ones more frequent. Most posts resort to personal abuse and bad language rather than a discussion. Someone below blames HT but whilst he does sometimes go on and on he doesn't resort to personal abuse and give his opinions even though everyone may not agree with them. But that is the idea of a forum, to get a range of views, even if they are different to your own.
Many of the more interesting posters(eg Toby or not Toby) have disappeared in the last few months making it much less interesting.

I don’t think I qualify as one of the more interesting posters, but I do qualify as - I have stopped coming on here. There are several reasons for this:

1, I don't think the general quality of chat is as interesting, funny or wide ranging as it used to be.

2, There are some posters I still look out for and enjoy reading and value their comments. But there are an increasing number (no names) that are just not worth reading (in my opinion) so I don't read them.

    3. Early in the season there was a real buzz about the football, but with a few changes to the squad for a range of reasons, that buzz as gone as we have languished mid to low-mid table. Endlessly navel gazing about this is not productive or fun. We all know what happened and why.

4, finally - personal reasons, I have taken over from my boss as Director of Learning and Teaching in a large university department with more than 1000 undergraduates to worry about. So I just don't have the time. Either that or I ran out of pictures of sheep.
