Was talking about people questioning the direction the clubs going etc, the usual. He sounded pretty pissed off with it all, not just the supporters but it felt like it's getting to him having to work with his hands tied behind his back financially.
Poor Keith. He's so thin skinned it's untrue. If he can't understand why people are upset after two 4-0 home defeats then he needs help. We're constantly having this argument about seeing the big picture and looking long term but you also have to keep an eye on the immediate term which has been *****. If he can't understand this and appreciate that people are a bit disappointed then maybe he's not cut out for management.
Not just the immediate term - while we keep on with the super-scrimpers outlook and flog off anyone that progresses, then the future will continue to be exactly the same as this season. I agree that this seems to be taking it's toll on Keith. He needs to seriously consider whether this job is good for his health.
with only 8000 regulars how else do you expect them to act, there are probably more people that stop at home and still moan than there is people who go
and that pleases you does it ? why not do folk a favour and stop frequentin this board like you have oakwell
Because what I would really like is for there to be some direction at Oakwell. It's too important to be left to the not-so-happy clappers like you.
He's clearly utterly fed-up ... I suppose you can say that the guys is being honest; he thinks that there's not enough support from the fans and that we're adding to the problem in terms of generating pressure on the players and creating a vicious circle. There's probably some truth in that. Unfortunately, whilst asking for us to understand what he's doing and give patience he doesn't seem to see the other side of the coin and appreciate the frustration that the fans feel. Whilst he may well feel that he's not doing too bad a job given the restraints he's working under we're seeing a team that folds at home far too often and for long periods lately hasn't even shown a willingness to fight. There were several players hiding against West Ham and it was obvious from the moment the third went in that we (the players) just wanted the game to end. No-one was rolling their sleeves up and at least thinking 'lets salvage some pride' - all they wanted was for the game to end. You see that as a fan and there is nothing more frustrating. So, as much as I like Keith Hill (i honestly think that we would have been relegated under Robbins/Davey/ A N Other this year) - you're going to have to develop a thicker skin sunshine because fans are always going to let the players know and the manager know when they don't feel weight is being pulled. If that never happened at Rochdale then you lived in a protective bubble, because it does everywhere else. I really want the fella to be a sucess with us but you're going to have to come to terms with being under the microscope and the quicker you accept that and adjust to that the happier the Hill family will be!!! I am scared to death that this losing run is building a habit in the similar way that Donny Rovers did last season; and if we carry that forward into the new season then the paralells are there for all to see. On the other hand; if we can start off like we did this year (a big ask without Butterfield but we have some cracking youth coming onto the scene) who knows what we can achieve. Keith, you want the Monkey off your back - just shake it and get on with it.
Re: He's clearly utterly fed-up ... Certainly think there's a sense of irony in fans criticising him for being thin-skinned...while getting their knickers in a twist at him having the audacity to respond.
Re: He's clearly utterly fed-up ... Wonder what the budget will be for next year? Crynes case will be over and the accounts that are ending this summer should show quite a healthy sum, they will include the Shackell, Vaz Te & probably Butterfield transfer fees, a cut wage bill and a slightly down average attendance but an increase in the admission prices should have evened that off.
Re: He's clearly utterly fed-up ... Dear Messrs Knackers and Life Occasionally we get some great posts on here and I commend you my friends for upping the objective and constructively critical ante. It's the only way I'd let my aunty be upped.
