what's the point of the appeal procedure. he shouldn't have been sent off, and it wasn't a penalty. but to rescind the red card would have meant admitting the ref and lino got it badly wrong. was never going to happen.
That is a shocking decision. The player he fowled was offside, then there was hardly any contact (not enough for a penalty to be given) and to send him off for it was ridiculous. Now they won't rescind it, gob-smacked.
What annoys me is how Jonathan Pearce said it was a penalty, because Ashley Young had every right to go down if he thought there was contact? How does that work, they want the referee's to make the right decision however they also think it's okay for the players to dive?
if it was the other way round, i bet it would have been changed. in fact i bet the flag would have gone up in the first place
It was off side but it was also a pen and a clear goal scoring opp. He pulled him and caught Youngs ankle. With it been given onside 100% pen and red.
he hardly touched him. went down like he'd been shot. the foreigners started it, but ours are catching up fast. t was cheating
How do you know, young went down and he was caught. He wouldnt have gone down when he had a golden chance to score a goal.
Rubbish, he dived and he should be banned. It is a disgrace the way that minimal contact means that QPR are deprived of their captain for the next game. If you really believe that was worth a red card and a penalty then I despair
that wasn't the point. he hardly touched young and he dived and cheated. should have set an example and banned young instead.
He didn't catch Youngs ankle at all or "pull" him. They proved it with about 5 different slow motion replays. Derry brushed his shirt and the cheating little sod chucked himself on the floor. He does it regularly and I won't be cheering him on in an England shirt this summer. Our Premier League Season ensured that I despised half of the 1998 England squad due to their similar antics against BFC. In my opinion Jonathan Pearce was talking like a complete plonker on MOTD and the FA have once again shown what a complete ****-up of an organisation they are.
Weird decision not to rescind the red card - as Young was offside (as proved on the replay) how can he have denied a goal-scoring opportunity (irrespective of the cheating little sh@t throwing himself on the floor). Surely this is like charging somebody with murder when the victim is already dead?
Sorry Hemsie-baby, were you talking to me? While I'm here, no it was never a penalty, not even a foul. Even if Derry had fouled Young, he was off-side when the ball was played - anything that happens consequently is immaterial barring violent mis-conduct. Man U would likely still have won, but losing Derry to suspension could send them down - which is no bad thing, but not like this. Absolute reffing blunder of the season, along with the one Spurs had.
No way was that a penalty HT and it's antics like that which are ruining the game and also contributing to f.ups by the refs. I feel sorry for QPR they have lost a key player at the most crucial time in their season. Deja vu to our season in the Prem
Our season in the premier league was before Hemsie was born and therefore does not count. In fact it never really happened - we all made it up! To suggest we were ever in any way successful is offensive to the current academy players. It also seems to upset Keith Hill.
Sorry I didn't know how old our Hemsie was! I think you should send him a copy of your DVD collection so he can see what he missed
