Pat Cryne has done a great job........but yes we do.........Vaz Te ............ and all the others we have recently given away for next to nowt is the reason why we need a new owner. The club is in the Championship and yet we cannot afford to keep players that would build success Brian Howard was a typical example..........there was only him likely to score at the time when we gave him to one of our closest rivals for just 500k. Shackell was the reason we didin't get relegated last season and yet we gave him away for a measly 1 million. The circumstances surrounding Vaz Te are very similar to the one surronding Brian Howard. Out of contract in the summer so cant offer Championship wages so we will grab owt that comes along - even when that player is the only player at the club that looks like scoring. This is happening to Barnsley season after season.........what sort of team would we have if we could hold some of the players of recent seasons..........Hammill, Howard, Shackell, Vaz Te..........Butterfield
Re: Pat Cryne has done a great job........but yes we do.........Vaz Te Have got to agree with you there. Keith Hill has made some mistakes for sure, but what can the bloke realistically do if he doesn't even get the chance to keep his team together for a full season? Even taking Butterfield's injury into account, I reckon we would be comfortably top ten had we been able to keep Vaz Te and Drinkwater.
Re: Pat Cryne has done a great job........but yes we do.........Vaz Te Shackell isn't worth any more than half a million
What kind of changes? Are we talking a complete overhaul New investment- will be hard to get I believe we need two or three new members adding to the current board giving fresh ideas. It would be ideal if these were sat in the stands. Are your big changes regarding current budget because the current board are managing this side pretty well.
We need someone in that wants to put some money in. Today is not a vendetta against Rowing from me as I seem be getting at him, but how much does he put into the Club? What ties has he got with the town? He came to the club as Stadium Manager ffs
But those were sold and their wage used to replace them with another. There is no way on our crowds we could have had all those here at the same time. Why? It would only be hard if Cryne asked for too much money due to him not the footie club itself owning stuff. We are in the black, have a good academy, in the championship etc. We are a good club to invest in.
For that very reason I'd say we aren't a good club to invest in. Theres no debt to write off or expunge so there is no scope for a fire sale and the club is held in trust and the assets of land and ground are separate. Anyone looking to make a killing (which is always the case unless you own the middle easts oil reserves) can't leverage debt against club assets. Therefore they have to risk their own money, and most people don't have enough to buy a football club and subsidise its losses. And why would someone with lots of wealth decide to throw it all away into the pockets of mercenary footballers for never satisfied fans with a sense of entitlement? Our fanbase is nominal when compared to our local neighbours, let alone some clubs in big cities but underperforming. We are not a good investment, we aren't going to get millions thrown at us and we aren't going to risk our existence. Get used to it.
We need some fresh ideas and thinking at board level as much as we need money to be pumped in. Somebody with some ambition.
this is an obvious statement but so true.... The don out............... taylor next.....what do they do for the club i ask?
Get rid of the Izal bog roll and put some Kleenex double quilted in, that will get us a playoff spot next season, its a lot better for tight-arses
Ideally, yes. However, it's not as black and white as some people would have you think. Who on earth is going to take over to start with?
