Lucas Ludovicius is also injured, that just leaves Button. A lot of the players he fetched in were for back up for individual injuries, not to rebuild an entire midfield. I'm not saying those players are brilliant but they might have been ok as individual replacements if we lost just one player not an entire midfield. My eyes are wide open and I know what club I am supporting and I am not blind to the restraints Hill is working under. Question. If Ferguson had lost Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Butt, Keen and Cantona from his squad all at the same time do you really believe, even with the money they have, they would still have been succesfull. And before anyone starts I'm not compareing our players with those, just drawing a parallel comparison.
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but In life and in business you are judged on your achievements and performances over time. Now, you can go on about three good players but you seem to forget the rest of his signings are terrible. And he got rid of better players than he signed. So he should be judged on all of his signings, not two. And he got very lucky with Vaz Te. Living in Edinburgh I know first hand that the Hibernian fans thought he was awful. So on what basis did Hill sign him? He didn't sign him on the back of his form, but it worked out for him. And Vaz Te is the best player I have seen in a red shirt for years. But have a look at the bigger picture, shrinking crowds, lack of interest or atmosphere, a manager that even the media are bored with now, a squad who nobody will want to sign next season. And a squad that quality players will not want to join for that matter. But we stayed up thanks to Pompey's administration so why don't we all run on the pitch and celebrate!!!!!! Un f*****g believable.
What a plonker, were did I say that, I used that example as an indication as to the amount of bad luck we've had with injuries, but I think you knew that and just made a poor attempt at being the Reeve.
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but to start its possible forrest and brissle could finish below us so for now the pompey argument is null. hill signed vaz te on the basis he did as hill wanted him to do and thats what made him a better player thats credit hill. the players hill signed i presume were meant to be introduced gradually but circumstances dictated otherwise and they were thrown in i've seen enough in some of them that with the right coaching and staff around them they;ll be ok. danny drinkwater and butterfield came of age under hills guidance thats two more credits to hill. and if you run on the pitch to celebrate anything that shows your immaturity imo
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but I wasn't even going to bother replying to that one but here we go... re-read what I said only this time try reading between the lines.
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but Thanks Andy. I now realise why I haven't agreed with anything you've said on here.
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but lol, forum would be as boring as Mark robins if we all agreed with each other
Re: In fairness Only felt this despondent when we got relegated last time. Trying to hold on to the hope that Hill and the players can use all the experiences of this season to move us on. Blind faith and all that.
I don't think there is much of a "Hill Out" movement I think the vast majority of supporters think the same as you. Hopefully Keith will be able to find some gems from the lower leagues with the £2m form Butterfield and see what happens next season.
Ok, firstly, I'm not wanting Hill out. We've seen signs, particularly in the first half of the season, that he could build something. And agreed that we've suffered through the loss of Butterfield, Vaz Te and Drinkwater. However, our form since the turn of the year has been nothing short of appalling, on Jan 1st we were sitting on the fringe of the play-offs. Since then, Pld 20 W4 D2 L14 Pts 14. We've lost 10 of our last 13 games, just 1 win, and failed to score in 8 of those. We've only gained safety thanks to Portsmouth having 10 points deducted, if it wasn't for them going into admin we'd be going down to Bristol on Saturday needing a win. We have not managed to stay up thanks to efforts on the pitch. Unless there's some changes in the summer I fear we are nailed on certs for relegation next season, especially when you see the teams likely to come up, because Charlton, both Sheffield clubs and Huddersfield will certainly be strong enough not to be relegation material next season. I just hope Notts Co or Stevenage win the play-offs. This is our 6th season back in the Championship, would have thought after that time we'd have stabilised and able to push on, half way through this season it was looking like that was the case, a comfortable mid-table finish was on the cards. That's what I'd be happy with, Swansea, Norwich, Brighton, Southampton - all teams that came up after us and all teams that have had better finishes. We've got to stop being content merely to stop up, because if that's the attitude the club give then you can't really blame folk for deciding to keep over £300 in their bank account. If all we have to look forward to in the next few seasons is merely survival, and seeing the team disintegrate after Xmas then I might have to reassess whether I want to spend over £400 next year to renew. Heard Football Heaven last night and the presenter saying it might be better if we went down, in that we might have a more successful season (results wise) in League 1 and come back stronger - I don't go along with that because I just feel if we go down again we aren't coming back.
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but pissing myself , so you want him to guess what you meant to say? , **** me this board has gone bonkers....
We have not built upon being in this divsion because someone has not allowed that to happen. Wrong manager appointed and kept for too long, top of the club devoid of ideas beyond bang the prices up and a mantra that staying up is good enough. We don't believe in ourselves and that negative attitude has, I feel, even overtaken Hill, your consumate optimist.
how was the wrong manager appointed ? who else was on for the job... brian laws ? russell slade ? ... we wernt exactly in a great position... KH ticked all the boxes
what i expect is a team that is not afraid to have a go regardless of the opposition, not one that should apparently be gratefull just to be on the same pitch as the other teams because they have more money and more fans, i dont want hill out but a complete change in attitude is needed if he is to survive 3 months into next season
Change in attitude needed, definitely. We have low expectations, as sounded by KH, of simply maintaining Championship status. If that's all we aim for, if that sums up our objectives year in year out, then there's a strong possibility of the drop next year. It's like much else in life, you should set your sights high. Lower your objectives, and you lower the probable outcomes, as has happened this season. A change in approach is needed, starting very soon. If the current board can't provide any necessary finance, they should be actively seeking others who can bring in financial backing- Paul Sykes? If there'd been money available to sign Drinkwater, then Butterfield would possibly have seen this as a sign of the club's ambitions, and re-signed, and maybe even Vaz would have been less likely to want a move, if we'd offered a better contract financially. But what can KH do when his hands are tied? He must be so frustrated at the Butts/ Drinks/Vaz outcome. My disillusionment starts at the top at Oakwell, the Board.
I usually stick up for Paul Walker, but he was an idiot for saying that. Like relegation and losing around 4 million pounds would be a good thing.
Re: I'm not asking for Hill to be sacked, but Especially when you are letting a quality player on his day like Haynes go for £50,000, losing another midfielder(played wide like Davies for some reason), in the transfer window knowing Butterfield injured and that there was interest in Vaz Te and Drinkwater could be recalled at anytime.
