Portsmouth being deducted 10 points. Make no bones about it, the second half of this season has been absolutely woeful. Save one or two moments of joy, it's been abysmal. Had Portsmouth gone about things in the right way, and not been deducted 10 points, they'd be sitting comfortable on 50 points. Bristol City would be third from bottom, on 45 points two points behind ourselves on 47 with an absolute must win, six point relegation showdown on Saturday to come and playing like we are, I could only see us grabbing a point at best. It will be interesting to see if Bristol City do finish above us, because if so, then we'd have effectively been relegated, save the financial stupidity of Portsmouth.
i always thought it was because we didnt end up in one of the bottom 3 positions..... have they changed the rules?
If we beat Bristol City, then they can't finish above us, so hang fire with the post mortem...at least until Saturday.
All joking and sarcasm aside, I think you're intelligent enough to understand the post was hypothetical. Forgive me if you really are as stupid as your reply.
I was discussing this with my mate yesterday, but my point there is that if Pompy had been playing by the rules financially, then they would not have had anything like the squad they had in the first half of the season and would not have picked up anywhere near as many points, so I like to think we would still have finished above them
i forgive you, hypothetical or not, we havent finished in the bottom 3, who's to say we wont beat brighton or bristol... when and not if we finish 4th bottom , as we surely will, thats the time to think how lucky we have been this season.... we may not have such help next season.... oh and half way down this thread you've agreed with someone who disagreed with your origional post... just stating like
If you think we may get a point at Bristol yet still finish below them then that brings Forest into the hypothetical situation.
We've got more points than 3 other teams - full stop. If Portsmouth don't go into admin, sell their players maybe they beat Bristol City, Millwall & Coventry etc etc. Means nothing.
I agreed that the time to clang the 'hypothetical' chimes of doom would be after we beat or lose to Bristol City, which was the last point I made in my original post.
so you wrote an attention grabbing headline about being relegated and the key reason we stayed up, the stated lets wait and see..... its time i went home!
There are loads of key reasons we've stayed up including any of the following:_ 1) The goals of Vaz Te 2) The form of Butterfield prior to injury 3) Drinkwater in the midfield 4) The 10-man super show against Peterbro
Oh, don't get me wrong. All these contributed magnanimously to us retaining our status, but the one key reason, is Pompey being deducted the 10 points. We'd be facing arguably one of our biggest games for years this coming Saturday against Bristol City. A real, relagation six pointer. The fact of the matter is, we've clung on by our fingernails since January, for another season.
