Breaking News: Portsmouth successfully appeal points deduction, Barnsley down

This is the risk, isn't it. What with Pompey being Community Club of the Year and all that. Give the poor souls some slack. Barnsley are a League 1 side anyway.

Absolutely. So why not stop the guessing and the ifs and the maybes and concentrate on the simple fact - we didn't get relegated.

But the 3rd worst side this season

Was just enough to secure safety. Therefore it can be argued that the club played their cards perfectly. Sure they could have landed a few more expensive loans to counter the January loses but they didn't need to. They got it just right. Not from a paid in the gate supporters point-of-view though, I hasten to add. I can feel their disappointment at only getting half a season.

Portsmouth finished with two more points than us before deductions, despite their wild spending. To argue that we'd be down without their deductions is fallacious because without their spending, we have to assume they'd be many points behind us. Doesn't always work out that way, sure, but if we're into the ifs and buts then that's the complete picture.

Shame the current selection couldn't step up to the bar. Their opportunity lost though. Replacements will be sought. I find it odd that players talk about struggling in such terms. We all know that low funds bring in players with work to do but to hear players thinking of themselves as second grade, as McNulty seems to, is plain bizarre. Doesn't matter how much you cost. You all have two legs and time on your hands to train... go out and become stars of the Championship.

So if we went out and got Messi and Ronaldo as our new strike force for next season, got 100 points and promotion, only to be deducted 10 points because we couldn't afford them do you think that might have some bearing on other teams? Portsmouth accumulated extra points because of bringing players in that they could not afford. Don't give me this crap about them attaining more points than us, because we all know they were gained through cheating, whichever way you look at it. Without cheating (as MarioKempes said) they might well have accumulated far less points than they actually did.

If we goyt 100 hundred points with them and then got deducted 10 points , I would take that every season !!

90 points a year is ****ing brilliant man!

    Well

As pyrrhic a victory as stopping up was, the end result is we start next season a Championship club.

Let's hope Hilldave have learnt lessons and the lower league lads come back better prepared with a season' experience under their belt and we add a bit of creativity and quality defensively.

    The season's gone. Eyes front.

I don't get this "come back better prepared with a season' experience under their

belt" ******. One or two players have improved as the season has progressed, Done for example, and possibly Dawson. Others continue to make the same mistakes and ought to have cut this out by now; e.g. Wiseman and McNulty - I can't see how to55ing it off on the beach for 5 or 6 weeks will make them improve if they haven't done so already.

You think Perkins and Dawson in central midfield would keep us up? Honestly?
