He's my business partner and he's from Porto, We also have the Bulls Head at Blackmoorfoot, very near Slaithwaite, and yes, he's learned to say Slawit! www.bullshead.weebly.com Ricardo is front of house at both pubs (hardest working man in hospitality) whilst I just pay the bills. Cryne & Keef stylee.
Re: Looks worth a punt Keep the Tetley Cask and swap the Pippin, it gives me heartburn! Jaipur is a decent IPA, in my opinion of course. PS. Dont forget to have something people can drink, its important!!
Re: Looks worth a punt Jss is quality..... Real ale is muck I may pay a visit cos I have a golden **** too...... Well that's what all the forumites' women tell me !!
Very best of luck Border Farnley Tyas is a beautiful part of Huddersfield. So peaceful and scenic Hope you have better luck than the previous landlord who was all over the press because of his massive rent increase.
Re: Looks worth a punt Farmers Blonde http://www.bradfieldbrewery.co.uk/home/bradfield-beers Lovely stuff.
Re: Looks worth a punt My other half who is an international CAMRA member and soon-to-be beer judge (for what that's worth) suggests: Greene King IPA, Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, Kelham Island Wild Ride or Timothy Taylor's Landlord (quasi-IPA). BTW when we were over at Christmas we tried to get a meal at the Bull's Head but you were full. So hopefully you've found a winning formula for country pubs with good food and good ale. Look forward to trying out one of your places next time we are over.
Golden Pippin - now you're talking! One of my favorite beers. IPA - just steer clear of Greene King IPA, it's everywhere and not too good either. How about the Acorn ones.....they do a monthly IPA using a different strain of hops for each one.
Worked with a bloke from there and he said the locals call it Slaithwaite, it's the "incomers" that try to make out it's Slawit.
Re: Looks worth a punt Always get a load of their beers at Xmas....though completely hooked on Farmers Brown Cow
Re: You've got the date of Father's Day wrong by two weeks Ha ha! Yes, it's the 3rd Sunday in June, not the 3rd of June!
