A few people have asked me if it would be possible to organise a meeting with Don with a view to better understand the direction of the club and so that we get the opportunity to start next season with perhaps a better relationship between club and fans. There will be an opportunity to ask questions, relay frustrations and get a better understanding of what the expectations are for the coming season. It's been suggested we do this a bit closer to the begining of the season so we have an idea of the types of players Keith will be targetting for next season and we make it open to all fans and fans organisations so we will be getting in touch with reprentitves from Penistone Reds, Rising Sun, Hoyland Reds etc etc. We are looking into a venue (let me know if you have any good ideas) and a sutiable date. When we have a date sorted, I will also ask if the manager and possibly Barry Taylor can attend as well. Let me know if this is something you would like to attend either by PM or email and I will keep you informed. Obviously when I know more it will be posted on here. I had to laugh at one point when we were takling about health and safety issues at the club, Don explained the "...the buck stops with The Don" It seems he likes his nick name!
i would love to hear what he has to say. i have a feeling that 'the don' wont like what i have to say though
Sounds like a good idea. Any chance of going all 21st century on us and trying to see if theres a way for it to be broadcast online? A public meeting with the club's directors broadcast live on barnsley player would see subscriptions sky rocket in my opinion, especially if it was to become a (semi) regular thing. I'm sure it would be possible because it cant be much different from doing the commentary I wouldn't have thought. You could even allow people to tweet in questions and really see the club become an innovative trend setter when it comes to public relations. Think it could be possible?
I know this may sound a bit whacky but what about using Oakwell as the venue and have it during or after the Open Day
Venues Aside from Oakwell, the last one was at the East Dene Club, on Doncaster Road. Seemed a decent place and the hall was big enough.
Re: Venues Sounds like a good idea to me, would the East Stand Suites at Oakwell not be big enough to fit every one in or are you thinking of having it somewhere else so people don't automatically think it's just for Supporters Trust members?
The exec suite is probably one option to consider. Would need to speak to the new company running the exec floor. There's already an event planned for open day which should be announced in the next few weeks.
Have thought about that. It could be recorded for Barnsley player but Iv know a way of putting it on live as a webcast. The twitter idea is good but I bet there's no shortage of questions from the floor!
Re: Venues Well if similar numbers turn up than did at the East Dene last time I think the exec Wouldnt be big enough and yes it's meant to be an open meeting for ALL fans and supporters clubs.
New Company ? does that mean people will be able to get into it wearing 'smart' jeans on match days ?
Could hold it at smithies tip...... Then the don can talk his usual rubbish! I'll not bother and wait and see......after all actions speak louder than words which are cheap. Hth
Fair enough, recorded is better than nothing isn't it. Why would the floor be asking him questions? It isn't that bit of floor in front of ESL is it? "oi don, why does a puddle keep forming on top of me?". I know, I know, it was poor. It was also unforgivable according to some. Oh well.
My mistake. Well live and recorded would be excellent. I keep meaning to sign up for player but keep holding off and I reckon if things like that were on it then i'd definitely go for it and I'm sure i'm not the only one.
