I get the bit where Barnsley fans might not want Man Utd to win the title

... but for any Barnsley fan to celebrate Man City spending their way to the title is odd in the extreme.

Small clubs like ours are being sqeezed and sqeezed by the free spending in football, that we just can't compete with. That comes at it's ugliest and worst form in clubs like Man City and previously Chelsea.

I care about Barnsley, nobody else. Dramatic day for the Premier league, yes, but sadly another nail in the coffin of British football in my opinion.

The coffin of British football has been full of nails for years already, one more nail doesn't make a big difference...

Oh well, at least we got to see some exciting football today. Shame about Bolton though, I really wanted them to stay up.

Just this. £300m they spent. What next, another sheikh buys a different club and spends £400m to win the title?

Not an achievement in any sort of way for me, city winning the title, if they hadn't then it would have been incompetent on their part.

When I was a kid 22 clubs started the First Division title race, and we had Wolves, Burnley Ipswich etc. winning the title. Nowadays I have no interest in what happens in Sky's Premier League.

Give over! Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd conspired to cheat the Reds out of the top flight 103 years ago and since then, their accumulated wealth have kept the likes of us down. I think it's great that City have rocked the boat and upset United. Any City fan of 25 years standing deserves it. It's ironically usually Arsenal fans who decry City's emergence, funny that when we know how they got up there in the first place... ...money.

Don't get all this BS about buying the title. Yes you can spend money and buy the best players in the world but there are no guarantees they will be successful.

It takes a damn good manager to bring those players on and make them gel as a team.

Sounds like another bitter closet Man Utd fan post to me.

No surprise that the only people to like this post 1 is a confessed United fan the other is obviously a moron with learning difficulties

Nowt against City fans, but like Blackburn and Chelsea before them, they have bought the title after years of mediocrity.
I have no time for any other club but my own, so I am as neutral as they come. I am glad Manure lost out to City for the title, but Fired made a great post, and I agree entirely.
The greed league, and clubs such as City AND Manure, are killing the game. By the time I am 50 (in 20 years) I expect English Football to have crumbled - it certainly wont consist of 92 clubs in 4 divisions.
I will end this by saying I shook my head in bewilderment earlier, as I walked past 3 kids playing football, wearing a Chelsea, Real, and a City shirt.. sad times

I agree, it was captivating. I really don't care about other clubs. The best thing I can see about Man City winning it (and not messing it up when it was all but theirs) is that perhaps they won't feel the need to chuck a couple more billion at it to ensure no-one else has any players.

I wanted Man Utd to win it but it's a least a different club winning it....and Chelsea not (so far) making the Champions League, mixes it up a little.

Just thought it was an exciting finish to the season......better than it being done and dusted by Easter.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.
Agreed entirely. It'll be fun for City fans till a richer guy comes in and buys another club and spends more money on transfers and increasingly more obscene wages. Really wish football would collapse and start again.

Well said Fired, I agree with you 100%. Money has always had it's place in football but Chelsea and City had taken it to a different stratosphere and it's now gone beyond obscene. I have absolutely no allegiance with any club besides Barnsley and I stopped giving a **** about the premier league years ago but while ever this continues the domino effect will continue to affect clubs like ours. Congratulations Man City, it must be the best £300 million ever spent and you just pipped Manure on goal difference. Well done.

Didn't see you complaining when Patrick Cryne was pumping money in for us to sign players. Exactly the same, just on a different scale.
