It's common knowledge that he was writing our debts off in his name.

He gave money to the club, in the same way that Patrick Cryne put money into our club. Don't see anyone complaining that Hartlepool are funded by IOR for example.

"in the same way that Patrick Cryne put money into our club"

You mean the way that Keith Hill is shopping at Aldi??

Sorry, but you're just barking up the wrong tree. Man City, (and Chelsea before them) just buy who they want, when they want, on occasions, just so other teams can't have that player. That is what is wrong.

It cascades down through the leagues. Barnsle with all of Patrick Crynes wanton spending (haha) cannot compete with any of these teams. the teams that try to keep up invariably come unstuck. All wrong. Obscene.

So we didn't sign Marlon Harewood and the like last season? Unreal if you think he's not put money into the club, most owners put money into their club.

Everyone congratulated Reading when they went up, yet they'd be nowhere near where they are with out Sir John Madejski. Want me to provide any more examples?

Oh yes, all those players that weren't ours that came on loan.....think it's just proving the point about top clubs being able to buy up players and then they loan them out to the peasants!

Where have I ever said he hasn't put money into the club??

Patrick Cryne has put money into the club HE LOVES to keep it afloat.... survival.... not a little plaything for a quick status "look at what I did with my millions, I won the league in England" (like the Man City owners who could easily sod off and find another play thing).

I'm not saying people don't put money into clubs, I'm complaining at the lengths that people with billions of pounds will go to to get the plaything they want, at the expense of the structure that lies beneath. Go back to my first post. Man City winning the title = money buys it, other teams have to compete = more spending.
More spending is PRECISELY what we are not able to do ....
The result is teams like Cardiff, Portsmouth, Leicester etc in our league taking endless gambles with big spending. Yes they might come a cropper, but either way the money that clubs what can't afford it are spoending is being influenced by the spending at the top.
Never ending circle ruining the game.

Excellent. I knew I'd do it one day.

I'm not a fan of Any of the big clubs ...... They all contribute to over inflation of football prices in general. but City and Chelsea, not United are the main protagonists.

Keep telling u, blonde, enhanced by the peroxide that the hairdresser carefully applies.

So let me get this right, you can only put money into a club if you've been a fan all your life? People get attracted to clubs at different ages and for different reasons. I have no idea of Sheik Mansour's intentions, but if he's rich enough to do that then fair play to him, I'd probably do the same.

Portsmouth and Man City are completely incomparable, one used money from banks to pay for players they couldn't afford, the other has used money from their owners to buy players they can afford. As long as the club don't go bust from it, I don't see the problem. I suspect Leicester and Cardiff are owned by people trying to make a quick buck by getting them promoted and selling them on, again, totally different to Man City.

Money has always bought the title, it's impossible to win the thing without money. Fair play to Man City for building the infrastructure around the club that attracted such wealthy investors, they get what they deserve.

    God, this is hard work.
My objection is that some bloke, with more money than sense, decides he wants to splash the cash on something he has a passing interest in. This week a gold plated Ferrari, next week a football club.
He spends millions getting what he wants. He pays massively exaggerated prices for what he wants, meaning that competitors pay exaggerated prices for the stuff they can afford.
At the bottom of the pile is a few smaller teams that have people who put money into their clubs, but to a lesser extent because they don't want to make the same gamble.
The guys who back City have taken expenditure to a totally different level.
Teams like Barnsley will never compete because of it,(unless they get a sugar daddy willing to up the stakes). That's what's wrong with it.
Some of us remember days when a good manager and shrewd management alone could win you stuff. Now you have no chance unless someone buys it for you.
